We started school the day after Labor Day. I had planned to start the next week, since it was supposed to be so nice and hot and we wanted to spend our week swimming. But the gross, smoky air changed our plans. So we started school. It took about a week, but I finally got first day of school pictures of everyone :)
Kenzie loves dressing up as Hermione each day. She doesn't usually wear the white shirt, tie, or black shoes, but she almost always wears the robe. I love her obsession with Hermione (and Harry Potter:) She's been more excited about school and learning. She takes notes when we do history and requests homework. She also tries harder to answer questions and is excited when she knows the right answer. Hermione is a great role model!
Jordan is doing algebra, biology, personal finance, Spanish, American history, language arts, audio production, and computer programming. It's a more than he's ever, and he's struggling figuring out how to manage his time well so he can finish it all before dinner. He often gets distracted, but I'm hopeful he'll figure out how to stay on task and get if work done. I might need to have him back a daily schedule like he used some of the year last year.
Mackenzie and Coleman are doing the same classes. They both do math and language arts in their grade level (4th for Coleman and 5th for Kenzie). They're doing zoology right night, and will do anatomy in a few month. If we have time after that, we'll do botany. We're doing a new science (Sassafrass, which is from the same company for Jackson's and Jordan's science) we haven't used before and are really enjoying it so far. They also do world history, art, social studies, geography, and typing.
He's always happy to do math (and generally likes learning.)
She wanted me to get a picture of her working. She's feeling out her science logbook.
Jackson was amused when I told him I was taking first day of school pictures (a week or so after we started school:)) He's doing geometry, biology (with an online lab, which we're both excited about for him), world history, Spanish, personal finance (and a business class once he finishes this), foundations (which teaches some life skills and character development), programming, audio production, language arts, and seminary.
Kenzie ready to take notes for history.
Coleman and Kenzie making handprint animals.
Jordan's science!
