Cute Coleman turned 9 months old on the 17th!
I usually hold out on giving my kids chewing foods until 9 months old, but I gave them to him a week and a half earlier than that. I don't know why I don't give them some earlier. I guess I'm just worried they're not old enough and will choke. But since some of my friends' babies who are Coleman's age and younger are able to chew foods, I figured he's be okay and gave it a try. And he was perfectly fine :)
He could even grab them and get them to his mouth sometimes.
Coleman spent a lot of his 8-9 month sick. He's had a cough most of the time. And he got an ear infection too. I actually had to take him to the doctor (which I generally try to avoid, other than check-ups... I don't want to risk going and then being told that it will just take a few days and they'll be fine, which is of course good news, but I feel like I wasted my time. And I usually have to take all my kiddos with me. The doctor's office is not my favorite place to go with all of them. It's hard to pay attention to what the doctor is saying when I'm trying to keep my kids from opening every door and pushing any button they can find. I also don't want my kids given medicine if they really don't need it. So I put off going to the doctor as long as possible.) The doctor gave us some antibiotics which worked wonders on him and within a few days he was doing much better. He still has a cold though.Poor kid.

This picture shows how sick he was. One morning after feeding him, he wouldn't go back to sleep so I unwrapped him and laid him on my lap on the bed. He rolled off my lap onto his tummy on the bed and fell asleep within minutes. He's never done that before. That day he slept almost the whole day. He was probably awake for about 4 hours. But then he didn't sleep well at night. That could have been partly because of his ear infection, though. The next day he was really tired too. Both days he kept falling asleep when he was just laying on the floor or sitting on my lap. He barely moved around at all and didn't eat or even cry much. It was a very sad couple of days. I was very happy that the medicine helped him so much. And that he was back to normal within a few days.
A few things about Coleman at 9 months:
He had a very bad month of sleeping from 8-9months (although he's doing better now... but that's for another post.) After eating he had a hard time going back to sleep and would cry and cry and cry. And he was waking up a lot. It wasn't very fun.
He still has only 2 teeth.
He's still pretty cautious about eating. He doesn't usually open his mouth to eat until he knows he likes what he's eating, which makes the beginning of feeding pretty tricky.
I've been making his baby food and he likes anything with apples in it, butternut squash (most of the time) pears, peach-pear-blueberry, sweet potato, and carrots. He'll eat broccoli if it's combine with a lot of sweet potato.
He likes to be a part of what everyone else is doing.
He likes to scoot to me and try to climb in my lap.
He likes reading books. More than I remember Jordan and Kenzie liking them at his age. Jackson always seems to like reading them.
He grabs at everything.
He loves his family, especially his mommy.
He smiles a lot.
He's cute.
