A Glimpse

A couple weeks we had a glimpse at what life could be like for us someday... We watched my sister's 3 kids for a week while they went on vacation. I want 5 or 6 kids so the week was kind of like practice for us... Ashlee made it easy on us though and arranged rides for all the kids' various activities so I basically just had to be home when they would leave and get home, and make them meals and put them to bed. I thought it was a pretty good week. Ashlee will have it much harder when she watches my kids for a week. Here's some of the things we did:
We stayed at my house the first night since the kids didn't have school. They got pretty bored at my house though. Especially during nap time when they had to be quiet. They did have fun playing twister though. They also had fun when my dad came and babysit them all (except Kenzie) so Doug and I could go to a Valentine's fireside at the church. I also took them all shopping with me so I could get some great deals at Albertsons. I even bought them all some candy since they were so good. And we found out the Albertsons gives away free cookies to kids.
This is Mackenzie's very cute Valentine's day outfit. The little skirt has heart pockets. Isn't that cute? :) Since it was Valentine's Day we had some pink heart pancakes for dinner. And I made some homemade syrup. Everyone wasn't as excited as I thought they would be about the homemade syrup. I thought it was pretty good though. We had the same things the next Sunday too.

The rest of the week we just hung out at Ashlee's house. The kids played well together. Jackson and Jordan loved all the toys there. Jordan especially loved all the puzzles there. That's what he did most the time. Puzzles are pretty much his favorite thing to do. Then on Saturday we took the kids to the zoo. I thought it would be fun and that they'd love it... Some of them did. Some of them didn't. Since it was a Saturday and a really nice day there were tons of people there. So it took forever to find a parking spot. We passed a park while trying to find one and the girls asked if we could just go to the park instead. I told them we could have went to park by there house if we wanted to go to a park. Samantha thought that sounded good and kept saying while we were there that she wanted to go home. She didn't seem to like the zoo very much, until I let them go buy something (with their own money) at the zoo store. I like the above picture because of the grumpy look Kimber had. It kind of of symbolizes the zoo trip... She was grumpy at the beginning. Jack was a little whiny and so was Jordan. Alli was the only one who was happy the whole time.

Us with the tigers. Sam was funny. At one of the bear exhibits we wre all looking for the bear and she said she saw it so I went by her to see if I could find it to show the little kids. But when I went over there I saw a sign that said there were no animals in that exhibit so I told her that's what the sign said, but she kept insisting that she saw one.

This picture is from after we were don't watching my neices, but I'm too lazy to do another post. It's Jordan and Mackenzie. Mackenzie is 5 months old now. She can sometimes roll over from her tummy to her back. She loves to smile at everyone and often seems like she's looking around for someone to smile at. She's a happy baby. She loves the jumpy toy. I still like doing her hair and recently bought some more clippies. She does good when I do her hair. She doesn't usually cry. She squirms a lot though so I have to try to be fast. She's still super tiny.

I cut Jack's hair last week. I cut it shorter than I ever have. This one is the before shot. His hair was the longest it's been in a long time.

Here's the after shot. And he's still so cute.

Picture Update

I've been a lazy blogger lately. It's mostly because Doug fixed up an new to us, but pretty old laptop for me and I think it will break if I try to put pictures on it... Either that or it will take way too long for it to work. Doug will probably try to tell me that it would work just fine to blog on it... But oh well. I'd rather just blog on his computer. Or on my desk top computer. Yes, we have a lot of computers. We also have another one that is connected to the TV. And Doug will probably get a new one in a few months for work. This is what happens when you marry a computer nerd... :) But anyways, I've been a lazy picture taker too. I don't really a good excuse for that. Except that my camera doesn't have much room let to take pictures, so I guess I've been saving the pictures for a really great picture-taking moment.... And so tonight when I decided to blog, I was surprised to see that I hadn't taken many pictures since the last time I blogged. So here's many of them:
Kenzie with her piggy tails. These were her first ones. They're usually crooked. Hopefully I'll get better with practice. Otherwise she'll be going to kindergarten with crooked hair.

We tried to get a good family picture for our wall. This is one of the ones we took. Not the best one though...

My boys are addicted to TV right now. Mostly just Jackson is, which is why he wouldn't look up for the picture. They often sit like this while they watch something. Jordan doesn't really sit for very long though.

Kenzie in a church dress and piggy tails.

Mackenzie loves this thing now. She stands really well in it and kind of jumps now. She spends a lot of time in it. She especially likes to watch TV when she's in it. She really loves TV. Probably as much as Jackson. When it's on she'll stare at the TV until it's turned off or someone come to play with her. But you have to be pretty entertaining to keep her attention away from it.

Jordan being Jordan.

Kenzie started eating baby food last week. She kind of liked it the first few days, and now she really likes it since I mix bananas and squash in it (not together though). She had squash for the first time today and seemed to like it more than the bananas.

Happy after eating.

I love this outfit. I love her in overalls. Isn't she so cute?

This is her first time in her robe. For some odd reason I like robes for my kids. We got one for Jack and I think he only wore it for pictures. I don't remember if we ever had Jordan wear it. Now Kenzie has one. But she likely won't wear it again. There's really no reason to put kids in them when they're little. Maybe when they're older and want to wear one then it would make more sense to get them one. But I just like to buy them. I think they're cute. Just not very useful.

But doesn't she look super cute in it? It was totally worth the couple dollars I spent for it. :)

Doug worked from home last week a couple days so Jack got his computer and worked next to him. Jordan likes to do this too.

Other Updates:

Jordan can now jump and actually get air. He gets a few inches off the ground. He loves to put our big stool close to the couch and jump off of it onto the couch.

Jordan is talking really good these days. I don't think everyone can understand him that well, but I can. He loves to repeat everything we say.

Jackson loves to play "what's your waffle's name?" We ask each other this while we eat breakfast and then the other person will say "don't eat Kenze, daddy, Jordan, mommy, Jackson, someone else." Jordan plays to. He likes to say "say it" if I stop saying it before he takes a bite.

I love cookie bowls. I don't think I've mentioned them before. But they are the yummiest dessert ever. Seriously. They're cookies dough cooked in a oven safe bowl topped with ice cream. And the cookie dough isn't completely cooked so it's still gooey and cookie-doughy in the middle. It's so good. We have to limit how often we buy ice cream or else I will eat them every night. We've had ice cream for a week and a half now and it's been a good week and a half. But we're out of cookie dough now. And eggs, so I can't make any more until I get more eggs.

Whenever Jordan gets hurt or is just sad he runs to me and wants a kiss. And then he's usually all better. I think it's cute.

Mackenzie has been laughing for kind of awhile now and we love it. It's fun to make her laugh. She can't roll over yet though. That might be because she spends most of her time in the jumpy toy or being held. I'm trying to prevent her head from getting flat and it's a little dangerous to leave her on the floor if I'm not next to her when her brothers are around.

I'm going to be watching my sister's kids from Sunday to Saturday so they can go to New York. So it will be a busy weak for me. Her kids are easy though. Much easier than mine will be when Doug and I go one our cruise.
