18th Anniversary!

Doug and I went away for our anniversary this year! We went to Oak Harbor for a couple days. Our kids stayed with my parents. It was nice to get a way for a bit!
This is where we checked in.

The inside of our little cabin.

The outside of it.

We spend Saturday morning at Deception Pass State Park hiking around.

We walked along the water.

After lunch we went to golf center and played disk golf for the first time. Doug's first throw landed behind a pile of branches.

At the second hole he threw it into a tree. The hole was right next to the tree so it was a tricky shot.

We also played mini golf. It was a fun little course!

We also ate yummy Thai food and watched NBA play offs, like we always do when we go somewhere for our anniversary:)

Back to pick up the kids. I sent Kenzie this picture so she'd know we were close. This was our first getaway in about 4 years so Kenzie and Coleman probably barely remember us leaving them before:)

Kenzie's last team picture for select! She had a great year and improved a lot!

Wiffleball

Our stake started a youth wiffleball league this month. It's just for this month and they had their first games on Tuesday. It's indoor and they play 5 in the field at a time but can have as many batters as they want. Coleman and Jackson both played. Kenzie's soccer game ended too late for her to make it. And Jordan had driver's ed (it's his last week!) so he couldn't come. The game ended in a tie 4-4. The kids seemed to have fun!

Meridian Middle School Soccer

Kenzie's on the 7th grade soccer team. They had their first game on Tuesday. It didn't go too well. Her team only had 8 eligible players (luckily the other team just played with 8 too) but in the second half one girl was hurt so they only have 7 playing against 8. And her goalies had never played goalie before. So the other team had a lot of goals, and Kenzie's team just had 1. Kenzie played great though. She was forward most of the time and almost had a goal. Hopefully once the rest of her team gets enough practices and their grades up, they'll improve a bit. Or at least have enough for a full team:)

Happy Birthday to Me

I turned 38 on Saturday! It was great day! We spend most of the day at Kenzie's and Coleman's soccer tournaments, but I love watching them play so it was a great way to spend the day. I also opened presents. We played games. We went to Banyon Tree for dinner. Kenzie made me cake for dessert. And Doug made me muddy buddies for second dessert. It was a fantastic birthday!
Kenzie and the cake she made me! She made the frosting from scratch, which she hasn't done before, but she didn't think the one container of frosting I bought would be enough. It tasted yummy!

Soccer Tournament

Kenzie and Coleman had their end off season soccer tournament on Saturday (which was my birthday, but I figured their tournament should get it's own post:))
Coleman played goalie in his first game. He did great!

The game ended in a 0-0 tie so they had a shoot out. Colie the goalie blocked one goal and a kid on the other team missed one goal so since Coleman's team made all their shots they won the shoot out 4-2 and won the game! Coleman said he was nervous being goalie during the shoot out. I was so nervous for him too!

He played in the field for the second game, which was the championship game. His team ended up losing 2-4, I think. But they played hard, he had a lot of fun!

Afterwards they had a little team party where the coach gave out certificates and they ate cupcakes.

We could see Mt. Rainier! It was a hot sunny day, which was great for us spectators, but so hot for the kids running around. Especially since it was the first day over 70 of the year.

Kenzie's team won their first game 6-1. Kenzie played midfield and defense mostly; she played forward that last couple minutes of the game.

For her second game (and the championship game) they won 8-0. Kenzie played midfield and defense the whole game. She was disappointed that she didn't play forward much that day and didn't score a goal. She had some great assists and passes and steals though. And she probably would have scored a goal, but her teammate took the ball from her and scored instead:)

Afterwards they had a team party with some treats and the coach handed out team sweatshirts.

Kenzie's team took a team photo before their games.

Miscellaneous Pictures from April

Cam slept over and wanted to hold Snickers. Snickers generally doesn't like to be held, but I've figured out how to do it so she doesn't squirm. So I picked her up, (which made Kenzie want to cut her nails) and handed her to Cam. Cam did great holding her.

Jordan sprained his ankle at church basketball practice. It ended his school soccer season and he had to miss a volleyball game because of it.

Doug attended the online parent course for driver's ed. Kenzie loved watching it with him.

Jackson went to the Mariners' game with a friend and was able to watch his favorite, Jesse Winker, play on the Brewers.

Jesse!

We driving past this and Kenzie noticed a skeleton on it. She wanted me to see it, but I was driving and couldn't look for it. So she took a picture.

Kenzie locked herself in Snickers' cage.
