Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we went to my parents house. One of my sisters and her family were there. It was fun. We ate turkey, played games, and just spent time together. Jackson was excited for Thanksgiving. The day before he wanted it to be Thanksgiving. Mostly he wanted to go to grandma's house. When he went to bed on Thanksgiving Eve he was calling Doug so Doug went to see what he needed and he just said "Thanksgiving." He wanted it to be Thanksgiving. On the way to my mom's house we found out Jackson is stubborn like one of his parents... we were listening to Christmas music and the Chipmunk song game on and Jack asked what it was so I told him it was the Chipmunk song. Doug then said it was a Christmas song. Jackson insisted it wasn't. Then Doug told him to listen because the song says Christmas. Jack listened and he heard the word Christmas but then said "it's not a Christmas song." This Thanksgiving was different than the other Thanksgivings we had since we were married. And different from the Thanksgivings I have had for a long time. We always traveled to Doug's parents house since we've been married. Before we married my family came to Utah for Thanksgiving. And before that I went to Utah for many Thanksgivings with my parents. So this year seemed weird not getting ready to travel and not being excited to see family that I don't see very often. But it was still a lot of fun and the food was so good! Here's the family before the feast:

This is our Thanksgiving tree. Every night we would say something we were thankful for and write in on a leaf and tape it on the tree. Jack was pretty cute every night doing this. He would usually say whatever Doug or I would say than we'd have to say what else? For awhile it would take long time to get to a new thing that we hadn't said before. But by the last few days we did it he was getting much better.

Pictures of Jordan

Jordan has been sleeping like this a lot lately. We always wrap him up tight when we put him to bed but he usually gets out at night sometime. When we go check on him before bed he's been sleeping like this a lot. I guess he just sits up but then gets too tired and lays down and sleeps. I don't know know how this can be comfortable...
Jordan pulls himself up on everything. He doesn't walk around the furniture though really and sometimes he doesn't pull himself up straight and ends up off balance when he gets up. A few days ago he was standing on his toes on one foot and his heel on the other foot. It didn't seem very comfortable... Jordan is also crawling so much more now. He has been doing it for a short distance for a week or so but now he mostly crawls all the time. He's not too fast at it yet but I'm sure he will be soon. He tries so hard to go fast. That's the only time he scoots. He thinks it's faster.

Driving the car

I pulled out Jack's car to see if it could help Jordan learn to walk. He didn't walk with it but the boys both had fun sitting on it and Jack had fun driving it around.
Jack taking his turn.
Jordan absolutely loved sitting on it. He just kept smiling and laughing and bouncing and scooting backwards a little. He loved it.
Here they are together. They're just so cute. Jack's putting his arms up and saying look at me. He kept doing that when he was sitting on the car. He did it because when Jordan was sitting on it that's what I said for him to get Jack and Doug's attention. Jack wanted out attention too, as always.
Jordan is really good at pulling himself up now. It's kind of fun to have start doing this stuff so much earlier than Jackson. But I'm learning that sometimes it's good when babies don't pull themselves up until there a year or so. When they do that they seem to have a better understanding of the word no and just a better understanding of things in general. Either that or Jordan is completely different from Jack, which is a likely possibility. Doug was giving Jack and Jordan a bath yesterday and Jordan kept standing up in it. Not very safe. I don't remember Jack doing that very much. But I guess I could have just forgot. Here's a cute video of Jordan playin a fun little game he started playing when I started recording.

Family Pictures

We recently got picture taken with my family. Jackson only smile in one pictures. In half of them he looks like he's on the verge of crying. Jordan on the other hand was pretty happy throughout the event.being cheerleaders

Doug and Steph... or is someone else there? Look closely...

Jackson looking a little less sad than he did in most of the other pictures.
Cute Jordan didn't like sitting still to get his picture taken.

Jack and Jordan. I think this picture is so funny. They were done posing.
Jordan climbing under the table.

The family

Our family. This is the only picture of Jack with a smile on his face.

I like this one because Jack is holding his cousins Alli'a and Kenna's hands. He was so sad to sit up there but being able to hold there hands helped him to get through this hard time of his life. :)

Fall Cleaning

I cleaned the upstairs of the house yesterday. Well it was more of a reorganizing. Doug cleaned the garage a month or two ago and brought 4 or so boxes of stuff inside and put them in our loft. They'd been sitting there since then. Jordan's dresser was out there too and had been there for many months. I kind of liked it there though because we could put stuff on it. Jordan's room was a mess. It's also our storage room and so there were some boxes of stuff and stuff we want to give away plus blankets from when my niece was sleeping in it. It was really messy. So I decided that yesterday was a good day to organize it and find a place for everything. It looks so good now. It makes me happy just to walk into the rooms upstairs. Here's the after shots: Jordan's room. You'll just have to imagine what it looked like before. Where the dresser is there was a desk that had scrapbooking stuff on it and a sewing machine and sewing stuff. Under it was where all the give away stuff was. I put all the give away stuff and the stuff from outside and other random stuff all in boxes (luckily we buy a lot of diapers so we have a lot of boxes :)) and put all the boxes in Jordan's closet.
I moved the desk and my sewing stuff all in my room. There was a card table here before so I put that away and all the stuff on it and put this here and I think it looks good. It makes me want to sew....

My new Freezer!

Doug and I bought a new freezer this past weekend! I'm so excited to have it. I've been wanting one for awhile. I'm excited to have so much room to store food. Now I can buy a couple months worth of waffles and have somewhere to store them! and I can store Doug frozen lunches. And I can buy produce and meat for cheap and store them in the freezer. And I've made muffins and bread that can be kept in the freezer. the possibilities are endless :) As you can tell I really excited to have the freezer. It's so nice to have!

Happy Half Birthday Jack!

Today is Jackson's half birthday! He's 2 and a half! He's getting so old. He's such a good older brother. He loves playing with Jordan most of the time. He gets excited to see him which makes Jordan really excited too. He loves playing with balls and cars. He actually seems to like to do a lot of things, but usually likes to have a friend to do it with. He loves watching Dora and Diego. He really loves reading books. His currents favorites are "I had a hippopotamus" and "Dinosaurumpus" both from the library. He likes to say things in funny ways and then tells me to say it too. He currently really likes to fake cry then say something he wants. He likes to sing songs and also likes to choose what songs we listen to in the car. He hates wearing jackets and coats. He has one that he'll happily wear. Today I did convince him to wear his rain jacket and he didn't cry. I think the convincing thing was that there's a caterpillar on it. He's such a cute and funny boy.

8 Months old!

Jordan is 8 months old today. I can't believe how big/old he's getting. The past couple months have gone by so fast. He's such a happy baby these days. He just loves scooting around and playing with anything he can find. He seems like he's going to get into things a ton more than Jack ever did. I don't remember Jackson ever getting into things, especially if I didn't want him to get into it. But Jordan loves to try to open all the cupboards especially the one with garbage in it. And he also loves to try to play with outlets which is also a dangerous activity. He has been showing a lot of interest in going downstairs but can't do it. He just scoots toward the stairs so happily and when I say Jordan he looks at me with a huge smile than continues toward them. I need to teach him how to go down them backwards. He's started to pull himself to stand a little. He only does it on lower things like the bathtub and the boat at the mall. But he doesn't really try on the couch, even when I try really hard to tempt him to stand up by putting the things he likes to play with up there. Today to celebrate his birthday I let him try to eat some chewing foods. He had puffs baby snacks and cheerios. He seems to like the cheerios better. He makes a funny face when he gets one in his mouth. He loves when people pay attention to him. It makes him so happy. But he is generally pretty happy unless he's tired or hungry or both.

Cute Jordan

Happy Veteran's Day!

Today is Veteran's day and that means there was 50% off at thrift stores! My sister and I went to two and found lots of good stuff. Here is my favorite find: It's a shelf thing that's really supposed to be for clothes and things like that but I found a better use of it for now...
It's my new pantry! I like to have a lot of extra food so now I have more space to store it where it is easily accessible instead of in the garage in boxes! I'm so excited to have more storage space!

Jordan playing

6 Quirks

My sister tagged me to do 6 quirks about me. So here they are:

1. The 10 or 15 minutes after church are some of my least favorite minutes of the week. I have to go home get the kids in bed, which is great, but then Jack wants yogurt, Jordan wants to eat, I'm hungry, Doug's hungry, I just had Jordan all relief society which always stresses me out because I want him to be silent, plus I usually pick Jack up from nursery with Jordan because Doug is in elder's quorum forever after I get out of relief society and sometimes Jack wants me to hold him and it's hard to carry him and Jordan in a car seat and sometimes when I don't he gets sad and throws himself on the ground in the middle of the hall and people look at me like I need to control my child (ok that really only happened once, but that was enough to make me not want it to happen again) so my the end of church I'm ready for the kids to be in bed and have a relaxing few hours while they sleep. But then there's the yogurt and bottle, which always seems like it will take forever.

2. 8:00 is similar to the time after church. I start to go crazy if my kids aren't in bed then (or almost in bed)... except when we're with family. Then it's ok.

3. When my kids take a nap at the same time, I usually am very unproductive. I like to be onthe computer and read emails and blogs and take surveys (a new hobbie of mine), talk to my sister on google chat, and anything else I can come up with. But lately I've even enjoyed making baby food during naptime.

4. I'm kind of obsessed with saving money these days. I read blogs about how to get more out of your money. I never knew there was so much to saving money but there really is. This saving money thing is why I have started doing surveys online... I can earn money and gift cards by doing this. I'm not as into it anymore though. It doesn't seem to be that great of deal. But the surveys are fun to take sometimes. Trying to save money is one of the reasons why I've started to make some baby food too. It's also why I am sitting in a dark hourse right now with no lights on even though it is starting to get dark.

5. I hate getting up early. I do everything I can to make sure my kids are in bed until 9 or at least 8:30. Jack's easier. I can tell him it's not time to get up and give him his binkies. When it's dark it's especially easy to convince him that it's night time. To keep Jordan in bed longer (happily) I give him his binky and wrap him up. These things almost always get until 9. I like to wake up though at 8:30 so I can read the scriptures before I get them up. When I don't read them before I get up my morning never seems to go as well. When the boys do insist on getting up ealier than I have finished reading, I bring them in to my room. Jack will just read books until I'm done... well he usually gets a little bored before I'm done.

6. Whenever I eat chocolate I like to eat goldfish crackers with it. Whenever I am at home I pretty much always eat them together. Neither seems as good without the other. One exception is when I eat EL Fudge cookies... They have fudge in the middle but instead of eating them with fishies I like them by themselves. I like to make a fudge ball with the fudge and eat it after I eat the cookies. It's really good. You should all try it :)

And I tag everyone. I think you should all do this!

The fruits of my labor

Today I made some homemade baby food. I also made some yesterday and a few days ago. I enjoyed making it. It was really easy and I liked the feeling of making something from scratch that I never thought I would. So far I have made applesauce, bananas, pears, and carrots. The carrots didn't turn out as good I don't think. I think they'll be a little to chunky for Jordan. I think if I would have made more since the blender would have been able to puree it better. I found that using a blender works much better than using my chopper/food processor thing. It has a puree button and I just push that and it does it's magic. I'm not sure if it cheaper than just buying it though with all the different food you can make. I barely seem to get enough apples to make it around the same price I pay for baby food. But I figure it's probably healthier this way. And I enjoy making it for now ...
Jordan eating some homemade bananas. He likes them just as much as the store bought kind. Doug tried some too and he said it was pretty good :)

Jack's new hair cut

After

Before... Notice how skinny he is...The pants aren't too tight or small. They're Jordan's pants. 6-9 months. I accidentally put them in Jack's side of the closet and then put them on him. And I didn't notice until that night that they're actually Jordan's pants. I thought they seemed a little short.

Trunk or treating

We went to our ward trunk or treat on Halloween. There were a lot of games for the kids to play before the actually trunk or treating. Jack loved playing the games. There was a spider throwing game where he tried to throw a spider into holes in a large piece of wood. He touched the spider as little as possible. There was also a throw the candy in a the pumpkin pot game. Jack's favorite game was bowling. He had to roll a ball to knock down some pop bottles. But he didn't really roll it, he just threw it. He got better each time he played. He also loved getting the candy from trunk or treating. After we went trick or treating to a few houses in our neighborhood.
