Haircuts

Coleman hates haircuts and we never want to cut off his blond, but his hair was desperately in need of a haircut. Earlier in the week I said let's cut your hair today. He said, how about on Saturday?" I told him that was fine. All week I kept reminding him that we were cutting his hair on Saturday. He still wasn't excited, but we did it and his hair looks much better:)

Awhile later Kenzie and I decided we wanted haircuts too.

So we got them :) We got the same cut.

Anderson Lodge

We're finally going to be able to host the Dance Family Reunion at Anderson Lodge this year. We booked it in 2020, but it was closed that summer, and had too strict of Covid requirements last summer. But this year we'll be able to do it. We hadn't been out to see it so we booked an appointment and took a self guided tour. The owners were supposed to meet us there, but ended up at the hospital because their daughter was having a baby. Luckily everything was unlocked so we just went through all the buildings on our own. It looked great, and we're excited for the reunion!

It's in a really pretty spot with lots of trees and great views.

Coleman always has to get in pictures of Doug and me.

Close up of Coleman

Doug turns 39!

Doug is in the last year of his 30s! We had fun celebrating him!
He opened presents in the morning.

His very own kindle!

He kept Coleman laughing while opening presents. He was very entertaining.

A gym bag.

We played Simpsons Code Names.

And family Rocket League and Super Smash Bros.

We went to Ashlee's for dinner and dessert. We hadn't seen the Crabtrees since before Jordan's birthday so they had a present for Jordan and Doug.

Dojo's Delight.

He really had a candle, but it looks like he was blowing out the lighter:)

Coleman's Card:
You're 39 years young. Wow! I can't believe IT  (oops caps lock)
you are the best father father in the world (that was not caps lock)
I hope you like my present.
From: one of your sons, to dad

Happy Birthday!!! I love you soooooooooooooooooooooooo much. you and your wife are theee...eee...eee best people in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the present the Crabtrees gave Doug. A NCAA basketball player was nicknamed Dougie Buckets. Doug shaved his face other than a mustache and tried the shirt on. Then he went to play basketball the next morning with the shirt and mustache. His ankle is still bothering him, so he couldn't play as hard or as much as he wanted.

Horseback Riding Lessons

Kenzie has been wanting to do horseback riding lessons for years. I finally gave in since this obsession wasn't going away. She spent lots of time finding different stables she could do lessons at and emailing/texting them to find out more info. She finally found Stoneridge Equestrian that wasn't too expensive and was pretty close and had a good time for her to do her lessons. She started the last Thursday of March and has gone weekly since. She really loves it and always screams with joy when she gets in the car afterwards.
She needed a helmet for her lessons.

Grooming Russel for the first time.

So far she has always ridden Russel.

Learning how to put the saddle on.

One week it was in the high 60s and was such a perfect day! Then the next week it snowed.

Kenzie and Russel.

Each time she gathers all the stuff she needs from the tack room. Then she brushes him, cleans his hooves and puts on his boots. Then she gets help for the saddle and bridle.

There's an indoor arena when it's rainy or too muddy in the outdoor arena.

Riding like a jockey.
