Piano Guys

Last night we went to see the Piano Guys at the Paramount in Seattle. It was so fun! The music was great and it was really funny, which we didn't expect. Coleman thought it was a little long, but the other two loved it. Kenzie asked us why we didn't tell her it would be funny. We just didn't know!

Half Marathon

In the beginning January, Kenzie randomly said she wanted to do a marathon. We convinced her that a half marathon might be a better first race option. We found one that was happening in Kent on March 15 so we signed her up. Doug and Jordan decided to sign up too. Doug's been training a lot. He printed a training plan from chatGPT. He got to the point where running 5 miles was pretty easy and would have long runs on Saturdays. Kenzie and Jordan both ran a few times, but didn't train much. They all went a couple weeks ago to run the 10k part of the trail that the half marathon was on. And today was the big day!
Kenzie was not looking forward to it. She had changed her mind about wanting to run and she definitely didn't like waking up early on a Saturday. But she still did it!

Doug had been sore this week after his church basketball game on Tuesday. He was playing really hard that day :) Jordan was feeling good and ready!

Coleman and I got there a little after 10:30 to meet them when they were done. We were too late for Jordan though. He finished so fast!

His time was about 1 hour and 59 minutes! He said he was about 3 miles away and had about 25 minutes left until 2 hours so he started running harder and faster so he could finish under 2 hours. He made his goal! He said the first and last couple miles were the hardest. He said he really liked it and will likely want to do more.

Doug finished next with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes 28 seconds. He said the only time he walked was at the halfway point when he took off his sweatshirt and he didn't stop at all. He was very sore afterwards. He said it's too soon to think about doing another race. He did like getting in better shape through all the training though.

Kenzie came in next! She finished at just under 2.5 hours! She finished right behind the only other girl in her age group. She said she barely walked. She didn't really enjoy it and said she never wants to do it again. We're proud of her for sticking with it though!

The racers!

How they actually felt.

They all got to ring a bell for getting their personal best!

Kenzie's friends Lorelei and Morgan brought her some treats to celebrate her accomplishment! She was very happy!

Changing a Tire

Kenzie had to learn how to change a tire for drivers ed, so Doug taught her how!

My Family

Kenzie drew us another My Family picture. It looks great!

Jordan Turns 17!

Jordan turned 17 yesterday! He had school in the morning, but after he got home around 11, he opened presents!
We found a Rubik's Cube birthday banner that we had to get for him :) It's even cloth, so better quality than I had expected.

A bluetooth device that he can use  to listen to music in his car.

Coleman's tag had a maze on it so Jordan solved that before opening  the present.

Kenzie got him a stuffed cube. He's a cute little guy.

Jack sent a present too! A Metallica CD.

Doug pumped up his new Tottenham soccer ball.

Dribbling the ball with his foot.

Whenever Jordan get cube things (like t-shirts with cubes on them, tissue boxes, things like that) he likes to see if they're solvable. They usually aren't, but he thought this one would be. He made one of his new 3x3s look like it, so we know it is solvable!

After presents we went to Olive Garden for lunch. He wanted the other kids to think we were going to Puerta Vallarta. They were happily surprised when they saw Olive Garden! We hung out at home afterward. He had soccer practice.

Then we had Grandma Dance's enchiladas!

He played a the piano a lot. We got him a Piano Guys songbook so he had fun trying that out.

He chose peanut butter balls as his dessert. I thought it would be funny to just put in numbers that add up to 17 for the candles and he agreed.

I used melting chocolate instead of chocolate chips and it melted much more nicely and it was easier to dip the peanut butter balls.

They were delicious!

We played some family MarioKart after dessert.

And he watched some MarioKart youtube.

The Crabtree's present came in the mail!

Candy, a logic book, and Kanoodle. He loves them all!

Pictures of Us

Our ward YM won the tri-ward tournament! (We also had the best chance because we have the most ym...)

Kenzie took some pictures of Coleman

She also drew a picture of me

This is how I posed...

Doug's playing church basketball too. He's doing great as always. Last week while I was watching, I decided I should take a picture and he scored a 3-pointer!
