Burglar

While we were at the Stars game, someone broke unto our house. He came in through the basement window that had been unlocked. He broke our ottoman after he came through the window. Doug and the boys had left as the 4th quarter of the Stars game to go play tennis. When Kenzie and I got home, we noticed that there were somethings on the mudroom floor that shouldn't have been. Kenzie thought she saw them there before we left, but I didn't think so. Nor did I think that they would have fallen in an upright position if they had been bumped while we hurried out of the house. But that seemed more logical than someone breaking into our house. I went upstairs and noticed a $20 bill on the ground in the hallway and thought that was odd, then I saw my bedroom door was open (we don't leave it open when we're not upstairs so the bunny doesn't go in). But I still didn't think anyone had come into our house. But then when I walked into by bedroom I saw this: (except the water bottle)

And then I looked towards the bathroom and saw this:
Since my thought that maybe the house tilted somehow to make the all the drawers come out didn't seem quite plausible, I quickly went back downstairs and told Kenzie to get in the car. We drove to QFC and called Doug and told him what happened. He checked the cameras and saw that someone looked in the front window a little before 7 (it was now 8:30). He and the boys came home and we met them there. (I figured the guy was really gone, but Kenzie and I left any way, just in case.) We found that he had gone through our closet and even tipped mine and Doug's dresser over. He didn't seem to go in Jackson's room at all and probably not Jordan's. He opened a couple drawers in Coleman's room. But he made big mess in Kenzie's room. He stole her wallet (which just had her debit cards and $20), $20 off her desk, some off brand air pods, and all her jewelry (other than a couple pieces, but luckily none of it was expensive. Most were probably under $5). He made a big mess in her closet. He also stole a thing I kept store cards and a couple gift cards (that I'd had for awhile that didn't have much money on them) and credit cards I don't usually use and maybe $20. He might have found 1 or 2 more twenties in the mudroom or my bedroom. He stole a bag of coins from other countries I had in my night stand. We thought he stole my wedding ring because it wasn't where I had left it (I didn't bring it Great Wolf Lodge and just hadn't put it back on yet). We were all really sad about it being gone, but then Doug found it on the floor next to the bed! We were all so excited! I don't know if it just fell out of his bag or pocket or if he realized it's missing one of its diamonds so he just threw it down, but I was so happy to have it back! It felt like a miracle to me!

Kenzie came in our room and said something like "the thief could have stepped right here!" :) Then she held up the money to pretend like she was the thief.

My ring!

Coleman's room (I took this Sunday. Coleman hadn't even shut all his drawers yet. Haha!)

That night Doug got our alarm system up and running again (we hadn't been using it for a couple years) and ordered some more cameras and motion sensor lights that he installed Sunday. It was scary, but I'm glad he didn't get much of value. Mostly just cash and cheap jewelry (sometimes it's make me laugh to think how disappointed he must have been to spend all that effort breaking in for basically nothing:)) And I'm glad we're all safe!
