3 Months Old

Coleman is 3 months old as of last Saturday.

He still loves being swaddled. And sleeps great like that. He's now starting to not sleep as well when he's not swaddled though, unless he's in his carseat or the baby carrier. He's been sleeping 6-8 hours in a row pretty consistently since he was 2 months old and only waking up once per night. Since our vacation he's been averaging around 10 hours in a row since we've been putting him to bed earlier and he still wakes up the same time. He usually is ready for bed between 8-9 and lets us know it.

He's in a Woombie. It's like a sleep sack, but with out arms, for swaddling. It doesn't swaddle him tight enough though.

See, is arms are up close to his face, not down by his side.

He smiles a lot now and loves it when we talk to him. He likes playing peek a boo too.

Jack and Kenzie both love giving him his binky. Jack likes to talk to him sometimes too.

He's usually pretty happy. He only cries when he's tired or hungry usually.

He still loves being held, but doesn't really love cuddling.

He's a skinny little guy.

He's handsome.

Half Birthday

It was Jordan's half birthday last Tuesday (the 13th). We celebrated by hiding and then jumping out and saying "It's your half birthday!" (Jack's idea :)) And then saying happy half birthday and giving him a special treat: a peanut butter cup. He was pretty excited by it all.

He loves peanut butter cups.

First bite...

Kenzie's thoughts: Someone's eating chocolate and I'm not? This is awful!

Pleading for the candy.

Unperturbed by his sister's actions.

Kenzie, unsuccessfully, trying to steal it from him.

Quickly shoving it in before she tries to take it again.

All gone.

I thought they were pretty cute :)

Here's some things about Jordan at 3 and a half:
Likes us to help him go potty and get dressed. Those things don't happen well if we leave him by himself to do it.
He still has accidents pretty often. We always have to remind him to go potty.
He hates when we have to walk fast/run to Jack's school.
He doesn't whine very much.
He can count to 100.
He loves playing Leapster
He likes to walk the long way home from Jack's school.
He loves peanut butter.
He's loud.
He doesn't like to sleep and doesn't seem to need as much as Jack.
He's a morning person.
He's about 38 lbs
I'm trying to teach him to read.
He loves to be my helper.
He especially loves vacuuming and cooking.
He's horrible at cleaning up on his own.
He's very curious.
He loves watching to see how things work.
He loves hugs.

My Kindergartener

Jack had his first day of Kindergarten last Tuesday (Sept 13th). He loved it! I asked him if he wished he went all day and he said yes. I was a little disappointed he didn't want to be home with me and his brothers and sister, but I'm happy he likes school so much :) He said his favorite part of school the first day was eating apples. He also had tomatoes for snack, but he didn't like it. He also liked centers. I think he was excited about those because he did them in preschool. He didn't remember any of the kids names the first day but has learned 1 or 2 each day since, most he had learned from reading their names. He has made a friend this week. He said Tuesday that he showed a little boy a tiny play doh egg that he made and the kid laughed. Then the next day he said he the boy laughed at him a lot (in a good way, not a mean way... Jackson was happy.) and he said he liked him because the boy talks to him a lot. And today he said he played with him all day and didn't want to stop. I'm happy he's made a friend. He seems even more excited about preschool now. He loves recess. Everyday he says he hangs upside down and goes down the slide. Although today he played with his friend so he didn't go down the slide. He also loves going to the computer lab at school and eating snack.

Doug stayed home so he could come with us to take Jack to school.

walking to school

In his seat.

This is what else he had to say about his first day of school:

"We had snack. We had recess. Mrs. Crow read us a book. She read us Little Red Riding Hood. And it was the same one as us, mom. We learned about the color red. And that's all. I'm all done. Oh and I lined up for recess. There's no helpers. Mrs. Crow does everything except be the line leader. Everyone can be the line leader. And I was hanging upside down on the bars and we played at the big park and we were playing at the swings but I didn't get to swing. And... and we colored! A bird. A red bird. But I couldn't color the brown bear because we were out of town. But we didn't go to the purple park."

I asked Jordan how he felt about Jackson going to school and he said:

"good. But I wanted daddy."

In the car...

You may be wondering how driving in the car for about 45 hours with a 5 year old, 3 year old, almost 2 year old, and 2.5 month old baby went. And honestly, it wasn't that bad. I'd even say it was probably the best road trip we've had in awhile. Usually the last day is really long because the kids are so grumpy and ready to be done with sitting in the car. This time only the first part of the last day was hard. The rest of the time the kids were mostly happy. Jackson whined some. Kenzie and Coleman cried some, but they were mostly good. Jordan barely ever cried or whined. I think he only did when he thought he was being treated unfairly :) He loved playing the Leapster and spent much of his time doing that. Jackson liked playing the Leapster and the DS. The didn't watch movies very much, which surprised me. I also brought bags with surprises in them to hand out every couple hours. Jackson loved those and was always asking when they could open another one. Those helped to keep them happy too. Kenzie just wanted to watch Dora (with a few showings of the Letter Factory) and occasionally read a book (usually a Dora one. She's a little obsessed. She sometimes even says she's Dora :)). They didn't sleep much at all. They maybe slept a couple hours each throughout all the driving. Except Coleman of course. He slept a lot. He did amazing on the trip. He only cried when he was hungry. I'm glad my kids do so well in the car. It makes trips much more enjoyable.

We brought books to read and sticker books.

Jordan was in a good spot because he could see Kenzie's DVD player. So he watched Dora off and on with her.

I think Jack asked if Kenzie was sleeping and then she started closing her eyes pretending she was. She kept doing it over and over again. She's so cute. :)

She did cry some.

On our first day of driving we decided to try stopping at a park and eating lunch there and letting the kids run around some. It seems like a lot of people like doing that. We didn't really. We preferred the quick stops much better.

We let the kids wear their jammies all day.

We were stuck in bad traffic for about an hour the first day of driving. We were completely stopped for about half that time. If you look closely you can see a lady standing outside her truck.

I saw a double rainbow while feeding the baby at one of our stops. Doug had taken the kids in to eat so they missed it.

These hats were in one of the bags. They got to decorate them.
