You may be wondering how driving in the car for about 45 hours with a 5 year old, 3 year old, almost 2 year old, and 2.5 month old baby went. And honestly, it wasn't that bad. I'd even say it was probably the best road trip we've had in awhile. Usually the last day is really long because the kids are so grumpy and ready to be done with sitting in the car. This time only the first part of the last day was hard. The rest of the time the kids were mostly happy. Jackson whined some. Kenzie and Coleman cried some, but they were mostly good. Jordan barely ever cried or whined. I think he only did when he thought he was being treated unfairly :) He loved playing the Leapster and spent much of his time doing that. Jackson liked playing the Leapster and the DS. The didn't watch movies very much, which surprised me. I also brought bags with surprises in them to hand out every couple hours. Jackson loved those and was always asking when they could open another one. Those helped to keep them happy too. Kenzie just wanted to watch Dora (with a few showings of the Letter Factory) and occasionally read a book (usually a Dora one. She's a little obsessed. She sometimes even says she's Dora :)). They didn't sleep much at all. They maybe slept a couple hours each throughout all the driving. Except Coleman of course. He slept a lot. He did amazing on the trip. He only cried when he was hungry. I'm glad my kids do so well in the car. It makes trips much more enjoyable.
Jordan was in a good spot because he could see Kenzie's DVD player. So he watched Dora off and on with her.
I think Jack asked if Kenzie was sleeping and then she started closing her eyes pretending she was. She kept doing it over and over again. She's so cute. :)
On our first day of driving we decided to try stopping at a park and eating lunch there and letting the kids run around some. It seems like a lot of people like doing that. We didn't really. We preferred the quick stops much better.
We were stuck in bad traffic for about an hour the first day of driving. We were completely stopped for about half that time. If you look closely you can see a lady standing outside her truck.
I saw a double rainbow while feeding the baby at one of our stops. Doug had taken the kids in to eat so they missed it.
