Violin Lessons

Jackson had his second violin lesson today. All the kids came with us. We brought lots of books which kept the entertained and quiet the whole time :)
Jackson and Miss Hannah

Coleman is doing so well at reading!

I cut Jordan's hair yesterday.

This afternoon Jackson made us donuts. Yum!

We also turned in our Declaration of Intent (for homeschooling) and are happy the kids didn't have school today or yesterday :) I'm excited for a new school year!

More Pictures from this Week

Coleman in his Sunday best.

Jackson and Jordan finished tennis lessons this week.

Kenzie came with me. We played frisbee and she practiced walking with the frisbee on her head.

Kenzie and Coleman were playing King Colie. He was the king and she was his servant. She got him drinks and swept the floor.

Covington Unplugged

Covington has a program in the summer where you can earn badges by doing various things and after you collect all the badges you can turn them in to get a 3 month swim pass at the Aquatic Center. I had planned to do it after we go home from Hawaii, but forgot about it until last week. I thought it was too late to do, but a friend asked if we wanted to do it with them. After looking through the list of requirements, we decided it was manageable to do within a few days.

On Sunday the kids did a few things that needed to be completed ahead of time.
The built a fort.

Took picture of their collections. This is Kenzie's shell and sea glass collection.

Jackson's coin collection.

Coleman's rock collection.

Jordan's Rubik's cube collection.

We also looked up family history and researched a local critter (we chose the rabbits that always come in our yard).

On Tuesday and Thursday we visited 14 businesses to collect the badges.
At City Hall the kids voted. Coleman voted that baseball was his favorite sport!

Eating their candy they received after voting.

Kenzie Hula hooping at a physical therapists office.

Throwing frisbees at John L. Scott.

We have a lot of kids between our two families :)

We checked out books at the library.

Flew paper airplanes at a finance office. We were excited to see two of our friends (Hunter and Mikah) had the furthest markings. Bryce's came in third.  When we walked in here the lady asked if we were a day care :)

At critter control we talked about what critter we learned about.

At the water place we showed pictures of water balloon fights the kids had this summer.

At Red Canoe Credit Union the kids bowled.

At the eye place we showed pictures of a hike we did.

At the dentist we talked about brushing teeth and they gave the kids all toothbrushes and toothpaste. They usually have the kids brush their teeth, but our group was too big and their bathroom too small for us to do it:) I liked how Kenzie found the books and started reading immediately.

At Pinnacle they shot a basketball.

This was our last one! Now we just need to go collect our swimming pass!

After we went to the Winters' house and these girls made us an assortment of yummy treats!

Wild Waves

We went to Wild Waves for the last time this year. We went twice. On Monday we went with our normal Wild Waves friends, the Rabans and Ramsays and on Wednesday we brought our friends the Winters. We had a great time both days. We are sad to be done for the year.
Mackenzie made Coleman's sandwich on Monday. She loves making them and always adds a smiley face. That morning, though, she accidentally put my waffle syrup on it. Luckily I noticed before I packed it away for him and I made him a peanut butter and honey one instead :)

Our last lunch at Wild Waves

Thane, Coleman, and Graham riding the Merry-go-Round

The big kids mostly just wanted to ride the bumper cars. They couldn't wait to get there and wanted to stay as long as they could.

We love our summers at Wild Waves!

Sleeping and Swimming

Kenzie, Coleman, and Jordan like having sleepovers when we let them.

Last Saturday we went to the Covington Aquatic Center to swim. It was Doug first time there!

Kenzie. We went during public swim (instead of family swim like we normally do) so the kids were able to do the slide, diving board, rope swing, and play on the octopus.

Coleman jumping off the diving board.

Rain Gutter Regatta

Bryce came over again today and they finished the roller coaster. Jordan's worked on it some since Bryce was last here, but we were still surprised they finished it so quickly!

Tonight we had the Rain Gutter Regatta. I almost forgot, but luckily remembered as Jordan was finishing tennis. We got there just in time.
I love how independent Jordan is with making things like this. I helped him with sanding (only so it would be quicker) but he did everything else.

Jordan did great racing! By the end he figured out how to to blow just right to move his boat quickly.

Kenzie's cute short puppy ears.
