Fall Sports

We've had a very busy fall sports schedule! Jordan is playing varsity tennis for Kentwood. Kenzie made the JV soccer team also for Kentwood. Coleman made the varsity soccer team for Meridian, plus he's playing on Kent and Covington Rec teams. It's been a bit crazy! Especially since Doug was gone for 8 days in September, plus had tennis lessons on Monday nights, and will be gone at the end of October as well (although most of the sports will be done by then.) The hardest part was Kenzie and Jordan's schedules. When Jordan had an away game I had to figure out how to get Kenzie home from practice or to the school for her game since her games started later. But we've gotten through it all so far!
I made a master schedule to keep track of all their games.

Jordan's first match! He's only played doubles this year. He's been partners with Luca, Chris, Xander the most.

Kentwood hasn't won a lot of matched, but they've been doing the second part of the season.

Coleman's Meridian team. They didn't win any games this season and have two play off games left.

Coleman's Covington team. He's happy his friends Blake, Ben, and Graham are on the team!

Kenzie in her Kentwood uniform! After a few games she had to switch to number 27.

Coleman playing goalie in his Covington game (it's the only team he plays goalie in). They play one other Covington team and a few Auburn teams. The parents and coach of the other Covington team yelled and complained so much that I was glad we didn't play them every week.

Coleman on his Kent team. This team has won and lost some, but they've really improved since last year I think.

Kenzie at a Saturday practice.

Kenzie also is reffing sometimes for Kent.

Jackson worked during the jamboree too.

Coleman's Kent team. He's the blurry one in the back.

I was surprised to see how much Max on Coleman's team has changed this year. I didn't even recognize him. Doug was out of town so I sent him a picture of Max and he was shocked too.

Kenzie's soccer game! Her team is good. They've won some and lost some, but they play pretty well together. Kenzie gets lots of playing time and has scored a few goals and had several assists!

Ben, Coleman, and Blake on picture day. This team didn't have enough jerseys for everyone and they were supposed to get more, but I don't think we ever did. Ben wore his jersey from a couple years ago, and Coleman wore his from last year, luckily it was the same color. Blake's current jersey was number 4 so he often was the same number as Coleman. Graham was number 6 so he and Ben were always the same too.

Having fun with the shadows.

Jordan playing tennis at Stadium high school. Doug went to this game instead of me since I had to get Kenzie to hers. The courts were on top of a parking garage.

The view from the courts.

Kenzie played at Stadium on Saturday.

It was so foggy!

At Coleman's game on Saturday he scored 2 goals! His team lost 5-6, but they played hard. The other team was really good and had lots of players with good ball control and powerful kicks.

Coleman had his last Covington game last night. He accidentally came on the field with his sweatshirt on. Oops!

He quickly too it off and played hard the whole game!

The lights went out at exactly 7:45. The game wasn't quite over. The kids wanted to keep playing. The ref let them until the parents convinced him to end the game.

Roberts Come to Visit

Lincoln and Isaac had some soccer games up here so the Roberts came to visit! Just Candis, Ryan, Isaac, and Linc came, but we had so much fun with them! We watched lots of soccer that weekend (Isaac had 2 games, we watched one, Linc had 3, we watched 1 and a half, and Coleman had 2 games.) We played tennis, soccer, and tennis-soccer at Kentridge. We played a Poptart game they found at Grocery Outlet. We drove to Orting to walk along at path and look at Mt. Rainier. It was lots of fun!
Ryan, Linc, Candis, Jordan, Kenzie, me, Doug watching Coleman's game. Isaac was mostly with his team so we didn't see him as much.

Watching Lincoln's game. His team is so good!

Playing at the park in Orting.

Mt. Rainier in the distance.

All of us!

Jordan's hair really seemed to poof up in the few minutes between the two pictures:)

It was a beautiful day! The weather was so much better than when they came up last December!

Plumbing Woes

Way back on August 6th, Coleman took a bath in our master bath and after he was done, the water came through our ceiling into the kitchen! I was at the Mariners' game with my mom so Doug took care of all the clean up, and put fans under the ceiling to try to dry it.

Doug called a water restoration company to come look at the leak. They put a dehumidifier in the kitchen and tarped it off (we could enter through the zipped up portion) and cut a big hole in the ceiling. They also took out the dishwasher to see if there was any wetness in the wall behind it.

Inside the kitchen

After a week or 2 they finally got it all dry up there. It was so nice to be able to easily go in the kitchen and pantry again. And to not have the loud dehumidifiers going all day. They were so loud! Doug had a couple plumbers come out and give a quote. They both thought the problem was something different. Doug went with the second one who had used a camera to peer up into the ceiling. He had to order a part and then wait until he was available, but eventually he came back and fixed it. After he was done, Doug contacted the water restoration people again and they told him they didn't have time to come back and fix our ceiling so we'd have to find another company. Doug called one that was recommended by our insurance (who paid for most of this!) and they came and fixed it up. They repainted the entire ceiling (including in the living room, hallway, and piano room because they all share the same ceiling) and the whole back wall. The only part of the wall they had to fix was that small section with the blue tape above where the dishwasher goes. But since they had to fix and paint that tiny section, they painted the whole wall. It took them a couple days to fix the ceiling, then about 3 days to paint.

And then our house was finally back to normal! (Now I'm still a little nervous to turn on the water in the bathtub in case it happens again:))
