Quarantine Weeks 9 and 10

We've had a fun couple weeks. We've had pretty good weather so we've been able to do lots of bike rides. Mackenzie and Coleman have finished their math and language arts for the year and we finished history this week. Jackson and Jordan still have math and science to do, but for the others of us summer vacation has started! Kenzie and Coleman have some workbooks and educational computer games they do, but that's so they don't forget everything :)

My mom saw that Hawaii will likely be closed to visitors until September so it looks like our Hawaii trip won't happen :( We're still planning on doing something fun with the Riding side of the family though. Just not Hawaii fun.
Kenzie still loves feeding the goats and pony everyday.

We can see our house from where we feed them.

Coleman taking his math test to end the year!

Jordan often rides his bike alone because he likes to go faster than us. He'll sometimes ride there and back and there and back several times while we just go there and back. But most of the time he feeds the horses and goats with us on at least one of his trips.

I found a music making website and Jackson likes playing around with it.

We saw goldfinches on our deck! They don't come visit up very much though.

Jordan has been doing extra chores for extra money. He earned $10 in the last couple weeks.

Cam came to spend a couple days with us. It was so fun! The kids played nonstop.

And of course we had to go on a walk to feed the goats and pony.

Cam checking out the goats.

And feeding the horse.

The butterflies emerged from their chrysalises!

Jordan made a very layered chocolate oreo.

Doug wanted to start running and I said I'd come with him. We've been doing it everyday for the last couple weeks other than Sunday and Memorial Day, since Doug went golfing that day with my dad. We got at 10:30 most days. We do about a mile. And we walk whenever I'm too tired to jog :) At first it we walked way more than we  do now. We have a lot of hills on our route so it gets extra tiring:) Some days it's too cold for my ears so I have to wear my ear warmer.

A day or two after the caterpillars all became butterflies we let them go. All of them survived this year and flew happily away.

We go to my parents' house on Sundays and usually right when we get there, Doug, the boys, and my dad play two on two basketball. Jordan and Doug against Jackson and Grandpa.

Kenzie enjoying the sunshine.

Jordan hanging out. My parents have the game show network and we love watching it!

More goat/pony feeding.

Coleman has been riding a bike that is too small for him this year. I just to convince him to use Kenzie's and Kenzie to use Jordan's old bike, but they both thought the other bike was too big and felt too weird. But this week Coleman tried Kenzie's bike while he was waiting for her to be done feeding the goats and pony and realized it was much easier to go up hill with a bigger bike. And after he was convinced to start using Kenzie's bike she was fine upgrading to Jordan's old bike. When we got back from the bike ride, Coleman rode Kenzie's bike around the neighborhood and was able to drive to go up all the hills but one. The one he couldn't is steeper than the others and around a corner so it was more difficult. Jordan was able to ride up it on his bike and Coleman was really impressed :)

Mackenzie and Coleman wanted to sleep in a tent in the backyard months ago, but it was too cold for me to let them. Last week it was finally warm enough at night that I let them. Jordan helped them set up tent. He also took it down and put it away. He's so helpful!

All ready for bed!

While they were out there Doug, Jackson and I were in the basement watching the Maze Runner movie and we heard some yelling. At first we just assumed it was the neighbor kids, but after a little bit we thought it really sounded like Kenzie. So we went outside and found that it was them yelling. They couldn't get the door open because the zipper was stuck.

Luckily it didn't happen again the rest of the night! We slept with our window open just in case though.

So happy to be done with math!

We had some beautiful days last week when it was in the high 70s, possibly low 80s. So we went swimming at my parents' pool. It was beautiful and warm and perfect days. My mom is keeping the pool a couple degrees warmer this year and it is really nice.

Kenzie was the first to jump in!

Then Coleman.

Cam came to play too!

Doug threw Jackson is for deliberately getting me wet :)

On Friday was my dad's 61st birthday. We had a fun day with him:
The kids love standing on his shoulders while he walks into the deep end.

Everyone in the pool had a floating contest. Coleman is an amazing floater and won this time!

Grandpa also proved to be a great floater. He said he only came up because he thought Coleman had. Coleman must getting his floating genes from him. Through me, because I also am a great floater :)

Jordan loved floating around eating otterpops. He really loves the pool. He went in, by himself, after dinner both Thursday and Friday.

Kenzie and Coleman slept at the Crabtree's house on Thursday night (and again on Friday and Saturday night) and came up with a show for us to watch.

It was very entertaining!

I took a few cute pictures of Kenzie.

And Coleman.

Mackenzie and  Cam were standing behind me making him laugh :)

Grandpa opened presents.

He always likes to guess what his present will be.

We stumped him this year. We got him a truck unloader with the Crabtrees, and Kenyons.

We sang happy birthday.

He though really hard about what to wish for :) His favorite birthday dessert is strawberry shortcake with powdered donuts instead of the cake. This year there were twinkies to try too. Some likes the twinkies better and some liked the donuts. I just had some smores dessert that Ashlee made :)

And after several games of Hearts, that night ended with a very long game of chess between Jackson and Grandpa.

Quarantine Week 8

We had another fun week at home:)
We went on lots of bike rides. Jackson joined us once.

Coleman's been coming on them now too!

Doug's hair is getting long and my family has been teasing him about it saying he should grow it out so he could have a man bun. (I said no!) I found this old picture of Doug from his senior yearbook with an afro. I think there's more pictures where he has a bigger one.

Kenzie made me a heart and poem. She's so sweet!
This rose is white
unlike the night.
Your heart is sweet
unlike my feet.
You are always there for me
just like when I cut my knee

Coleman bought something everyone was excited to see him open it...

A giant slinky!

Kenzie blew up some water balloons and had a water balloon fight with Jackson and Jordan.

They each had a corner where they started and where their balloons stayed.

Jackson throwing a balloon and Jordan.

Coleman and I watched from the deck.

Coleman and I saw a bunny! You can't really see it in this picture, but it's there!

We walk past a grassy field that has a horse and two goats in it. One bike ride when Coleman and I were biking (Kenzie and Jordan had left before us.) past the grassy area and the goats and pony were at the fence by a lady and a little girl. The lady was petting them and feeding them grass. Now every time we go by them the kids call for them and feed them grass. The horse's name is Sparkles and the goats are Peanut and Pretzel.

Jackson usually stays home and plays basketball while the other kids and I bike. I told him he has to be active at least 30 minutes. Sometimes he convinces Doug to come play with him. (Doug usually has meetings though and so often can't.)

Kenzie has finished all the Harry Potters and is now obsessed! She and Jordan collected wood for wands outside and then Kenzie set up a wand shop in her room.

She hung up signs around the house and gave us 3 pennies since she didn't think we'd use our own money to buy them :)

Jordan carved a javelin out of a stick and spent awhile throwing it in the grass and pulling it up by a string.

Kenzie's wand shop.

Kenzie painted her volcano and made it erupt.

Coleman also loves Harry Potter and gave himself a a few lightning scars.

Kenzie was excited when she finally got to see the pony and goats close up. She's been admiring them from her window for a long time (although according to the lady we met, these are new goats and pony)

Feeding the pony grass.

Kenzie always calls the goats greedy.

I let Coleman and Kenzie play at the park in the neighborhood we ride our bikes through.

Coleman made this joke paper for Jack's birthday.
What's a cows favorite kind of cheering? wooooo. Like that one
write here: (Jackson wrote yes) knock knock
(Jackson wrote who's there) interrupting cow
(Jackson wrote interr)moooo! like that one
(Jackson wrote yeah bio (probably meaning boi aka boy)) whats a cows favorite food! YOU! hahahah

from the Goey (which is Jack's weird nickname for Coleman) Have a good  year of being 14 hahaha! 14141414
your 14 years old

On Saturday it was wet outside and I was worried we'd slip on the cement if we rode our bikes. Kenzie really wanted to see the pony and goats, so instead we walked.

Coleman and I finished Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azcaban! We watched the movie that night. So far this one is his favorite Harry Potter book.

Ashlee gave me money to buy bowling shoes for my birthday. These are the ones I got! I can't wait until I can use them :)

Coleman bought a box of Pokemon cards. The boys all wanted to see what he got.

Jackson and Jordan bought a huge pack of Pokemon cards. Doug and Coleman had to watch as they opened them.

Doug's hair is getting long!

At my parents on Sunday we played several big games of Bump. Everyone 12 and older played. It was a lot of fun!  We're so happy the Crabtrees are back in town! We've missed them these past couple months :)

 We celebrated Cam's birthday.

And Jackson's.
