Quarantine Week 7

Kenzie, Jordan, and I went on a couple bike rides.

While Kenzie and I were struggling up the hills, Jordan thought they were easy with his mountain bike. Kenzie and I chose to walk up a few of them the second day. Our legs were tired :)

Kenzie and I had Princess Leia hair for Star Wars Day on May 4th.

Doug and Jackson love playing Rocket League together.

Kenzie and I tried to make fizz lemonade. We used lemon, water, baking soda, and sugar. It was good though. It tasted mostly of lemon and baking soda. It fizzed out of the cup. Lemons are highly reactive to baking soda!

Coleman, Jordan, and Kenzie have been doing Night of the Zookeeper. It's an online writing program. They make animals and write about them. They also play games helping them learn different writing elements. They all still love it after a couple weeks :)

Taking a break on our bike ride.

Jordan didn't ever need a break.

When we got home from biking, Jordan and Kenzie set up the slip and slide. There was a hole so Jordan worked to fix it. I'm so happy he loves trying to do things independently.

Coleman always tries to not touch the ground. He usually ride his hoverboard, but sometimes he slides along on his blanket.

Our science told us if we put a can in vinegar, it will eventually disintegrate. We decided to try it ourselves. After about a week though, the can still looks the same.  Doug thinks the can isn't fully aluminum.

Another science experiment we did was putting vinegar in a bag, and then putting a dixie cup filled about half way with baking soda in a plastic bag. We sealed up the bag and then flipped it over so the baking soda would spill into the vinegar. The bag filled up with gas from the reaction, and if the bag was sealed tight enough, the bag exploded.

Jackson's didn't explode, but his bags blew up as big as they could.

The ripped bag.

Kenzie made a volcano and stepping stone out of plaster of paris. She's also in the middle of making a pinata out of paper mache.

She also made ice cream couple times. Jordan made it once too.

She brought her little table down from her room and now loves to do her school work at it. She often writes Hermione at the top of her papers.

Coleman got a hair cut. This is before.

And after.

On Friday, we went to my parents house and the kids worked for about 4 hours getting moving lava rocks.

Jordan enjoyed the work the most. He seemed to always be smiling.

The kids were all excited at the end though when they received money :) Jackson said while working he didn't think it was worth it, but once he had the money he decided it was worth it.

Doug bought some Pokemon cards and let the boys watch him open the box up. Apparently he got some really good cards in it.

Coleman finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It took him 7 days! He spent a lot of time reading. He's a dedicated kid. He started the second book yesterday. At the rate he's going he's going to be on the third book before he and I finish it :)

Mackenzie bought some cat stickers for her wall. She named this was one Lilly. They look like they're jumping through her walls and doors.

She named this one Starlight.

Kenzie sewed this bag all on her own. She came up with the design on her own and made it. It's so cute!

We got some caterpillars! Hopefully they turn into butterflies better than the last ones we had a couple years ago.
