On Sunday after church we came home and set up the litter box and cage for the bunny. Then we went to pick her up and bring her home!
Kenzie decided to name her Snickers!
Cam came with us too.
On the way home.
I reminded them they could take their masks off :)
Her new home. She was pretty terrified for awhile. We were all in there staring at her.
We decided to put her in the cage and see if that made her feel a little less scared.
But she still seemed scared so I had everyone leave and go eat lunch. After awhile she seemed less scared and started moving around.
I had read that you should just leave bunnies alone for the first 48 hours so they get comfortable in their new homes. We decided after about 24 we'd open the cage and see if she wanted to come out.
It took awhile, but she finally came out and explored her play area.
After awhile we let Kenzie go in with her. Kenzie is great bunny owner. She really just wants her to be happy so she doesn't try to hold her much or make her do things.
Next we let Cam go in with her.
And then Coleman
She's so cute!
Alli and Sam came over to pick up Cam and see the bunny. Alli loved holding her and was very gentle with her.
On Tuesday we brought her downstairs.
She slipped around a lot on the hard floor and spent most the day in boxes.
Colie finally held her!
and Jackson!
On Wednesday we got a tarp for her and put her by the window with a bigger space. She was so happy in there. She seems to be happiest and most full of energy in the morning. Bunnies do a jump called binkies when they are so happy and she often does them in the morning.
Doug brought our window ac unit pipe down for her to use as a tunnel. She loves it! We weren't sure if she'd fit through it, but she did.
Kenzie and Coleman did some of their homeschool in with Snickers. She climbed around their notebooks.
She's so cute when she drinks her water.
I wish she wanted to be held all the time. Because then I would hold her all the time :) Well, whenever I wasn't doing something else:)
Kenzie's friend Jenna came over and they played with the bunny. We brought her outside for the first time. After Jenna and her brothers left Snickers kept to herself the rest of the day. We think it was a little too stressful for her to have them around her.
Once she showed us that she was using her litter box consistently we brought out this little house for her.
Yesterday we cleaned out her littler boxes. We should only need to once a week. My house definitely smells different now, but I think it's just the hay. I'm not a fan of it, but the rest of my family doesn't seem to mind.
Yesterday we made a maze for her in the basement. She loved it! Kenzie brought her down again this morning to and said Snickers was doing lots of binkies.
We didn't think she'd climb over the edges, but she did a few times. She usually doesn't climb/jump on things that height, but was curious enough yesterday that she did.
So far, being bunny owners is going well. Kenzie is so happy to have a bunny. Sometimes Kenzie is sad because she thinks Snickers isn't happy. I try to reassure that Snickers is happy and shows lots of signs of happiness.
