Random Pictures

I took my friend's kids to swim lessons one afternoon. The lessons are outside and it was rainy and probably around 60 degrees. The kids said it was fine inside the water, but they were freezing once they got out.

Twins!

Mackenzie has been obsessed with getting a kitty lately. She recently heard her friend's mom is getting a shot to help her to not be allergic to dogs and tried to convince Doug to get a shot so he won't be allergic to cats anymore. He said no, and he said that we wouldn't get a kitty even if he wasn't allergic. Even though HE was the one saying all those things she made this picture about me. I don't have an "I hate kitties" shirt. I like kitties. I also would never say "No, no dumb kittens for you!"

While I was helping at Cub Camp, Kenzie texted me asking if she could have an otter pop. I told her yes and she sent me this picture. Doug was home that day, but she didn't want to ask him because she thought he'd say no.

I also found many other pictures she took that day...

Kenzie made our Roomba into a pet dog.

The kids love piano lessons even more in the summer because their teacher's kids are home. This week when I picked them up they were jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler on, which worked out perfect because we needed a picture of them playing in the sprinkler for Play Unplugged.

Sam's Family Party

Sam turned 16 this year!
Jordan, Cam, Kenzie, and Coleman were bowing to her while saying, "bow to Sam".

Ashlee made a copy cat Dairy Queen ice cream cake. It was really good. She also made a copy cat Olive Garden alfredo recipe for dinner that was delicious.

Ash, Sam, and Alli had to leave after cake to go to a Girls' Camp fireside so we played some ping pong for a little bit upstairs then went to my parents' house.

Konrda, Doug, and Jordan cut me 50 wooden squares for a Scripture Hero camp I'm helping at next week. I was going to by them (and I would have been reimbursed.) They were going to cost me almost $90. And we did it for free. I'm glad my dad has so much wood :) and that Doug and Konrad know how to use my dad's tools.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

We went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Paramount on Saturday. It was so good and so fun!
We invited my mom to come along since she loves plays!
Coleman loved it so much. At intermission he said he wished it would go on for another 5 hours. At one point, when Charlie did something Willie Wonka told him not to do, Coleman covered his eyes. He didn't like watching Charlie disobey:)

Our seats were really high up!

Everyone loved it! Jackson thought there was too much singing though.

Flaming Geyser

We met the Winters' at Flaming Geyser. I was nervous the river would be too fast for the kids to play in, but it ended up being perfect. There was also a big grassy area that they played soccer in until they were hot enough for the river. Then once there were rivered out, they played Mafia at some tables that were undercover.

Bryce, Thane, Jordan, Nellie, Jackson, Kenzie, Finley, Graham, Asher
Coleman was at cub camp so he wasn't there. Asher and Finley came with the Winters. The kids were excited to have them there!

Cub Camp

Coleman was able to go to his first and last Cub Camp this year. He loved it so much! He wishes he could do it every day. He was in Den 3 and their cheer was: have no fear, den 3 is here!
Archery was their very first station. Since they had such a big group and there's so many rules to go over the first day, they didn't get to shoot. Coleman didn't mind too much. He was a little nervous about shooting.

Atlas, Levin, Coleman, Tatem Wyatt (Atlas and Wyatt are little brothers of Levin and Wyatt, this year they were much more flexible about bringing siblings)
At scout skills they learned how to put up and take down a flag.

BB guns

He's never shot a bb gun, so he needed lots of help.

Making a box.

He made a little robot at science.

My friend sent me this picture of him during the second day.

She sent this one too of him launching a rocket.

I helped again on Friday...
They made a hovercraft at science.

I brought Mackenzie along so she could see what cub camp was like. She said it was different than she expected. She had fun when she was able to participate.

They let her shoot a bow. She liked it.

They tried to knock the ball between each others legs, but they weren't allowed to bend their knees. Most of the kids weren't that great at obeying that rule. Coleman said his favorite part each day was field sports.

The did some cooking during scout skills.

Coleman improved his shooting a lot!

Kenzie got to try it out too.

They had a long campfire at the end. They sang songs and the kids performed the skits they'd been practicing this week.

And they retired a couple flags.

Wild Waves with Friends

We met the Winters' at Wild Waves. The brought Finley and Asher (their neighbors and our friends from soccer) with them.
Finley, Thane, Nellie, Kenzie, Aubree, Jordan, Bryce, Graham, Jackson, Asher

My kids grabbed their lunches and at by their car.

Thane, Coleman, Bryce
We split into two groups for the first part of rides: those that wanted to ride the thrill rides, and those that didn't.

Kenzie was so, so excited that she was finally able to drive the bumper cars! Coleman and Graham was so, so disappointed because the person running the ride wouldn't let them ride unless they were with an adult (every other time we have been there kids are allowed to ride with other kids.) Luckily the Gambler is close by and there were able to ride on that.

Finley loved the crazy rides as much as Kenzie.

Graham isn't tall enough to sit in the back so Coleman sat with him up in the front. Coleman doesn't like the back, but usually he doesn't ride unless he's with someone else who has to ride in the front.

Jackson, Asher, Thane

Jordan, Bryce

We had a lot of kids with us:)

Harry Potter Trivia

Jordan, Jackson, Doug, and I participated in a Harry Potter trivia tournament at the library with a homeschool friend and his mom. It was a lot of fun. Our group came in third, and we were only about 10 points behind the 1st place team.

Mackenzie and Coleman read books outside of the room. Kenzie kept coming in the room, but Coleman didn't. He doesn't want to know anything about Harry Potter until he reads them.

Jackson, Jordan, and Leif.
Jordan and Leif both know a crazy amount of Harry Potter facts.

Jackson chose butterbeer as his prize. It was the last bottle.

After, we played at the park next to the library.

We hadn't been there for many years.

Coleman didn't remember it at all.

Jackson thought everything seemed much smaller now.

There's a a crow and french fry statue outside the library.
