Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday I turned 26. Doug took the day off so I had great day with him and the kids. In the morning Doug got the kids up, cleaned up the house, wrapped my presents and they hid the presents so I could find them.

Kenzie helped me find one hiding under her Dora chair.

After presents we went to the Family Fun Center. We bought a groupon awhile ago and decided it would be a good day to use it. The kids loved it. When Jackson saw the place as we were driving there he was so excited.

There were cars the kids could drive around a track. Jordan was scared at first, but we convinced him to do it and then he loved it. The worker had to ride with him the whole time to help him go and steer.

Jackson did really good at driving and he loved it.

Kenzie enjoyed watching her brothers drive. She kept pointing at them and saying their names.

Inside there was a big play place for the kids. There were tunnels to climb through and slides and other things. Kenzie was happy to be able to get out of the stroller and play.

These slides were really fast and the boys loved them. They liked racing down them.

Kenzie went down once and didn't love it.

There were also some little rides in there. The kids are all sitting on one.

The boys loved playing with these balls. Jordan completely flipped over one. He also kept trying to jump onto them and would make it to the top so he'd just fly backwards instead.

That night my brother in law watched the kids while Doug and I went to the Cheesecake Factory and did some shopping at Target. It was a great day!

Kindergarten Round Up

I took Jackson to the school he'll be going to in the fall for kindergarten round up. He was really nervous about going. When we got there the kids were in one classroom and the parents were in another room listening form the principal and kindergarten teacher. Jack really didn't want me to leave him. He told Doug later that he almost cried because he didn't want me to leave and was so scared.
Here's what he told me about his experience:
He didn't color a picture like the other kids.
They watched a movie (about bus safety). They were supposed sit on the carpet. He didn't "but that was ok."
The kids rode on a bus and he didn't like it. He thought it was bumpy and loud and he couldn't wear a seat belt, only the bus driver could wear a seat belt.

He did think his teacher is nice though. Hopefully by September he'll like it better. I told him about the fun things his teacher said they'd do and that helped him be a little more excited. I think he is excited for kindergarten, but nervous too because he doesn't really know anyone that will be in his class.
I found out that the teacher wants the parents of kids who don't ride the bus (like us) to walk their kids all the way to the classroom each day so that the child doesn't end up in the wrong spot. I guess that makes sense since he's so young, but it means that when it's rainy or really windy or snowy I can't just drive him to there and drop him off. I'd still have to walk him to his classroom which would mean I'd have to get the other 3 kids out of the car and bring them too since I don't want to leave them alone in the parking lot where I wouldn't be able to see them. I guess we'll be walking rain or snow or shine...

Little Mommy

Kenzie has been loving baby dolls lately. She likes pushing them in her stroller and carrying them around. A few days ago she grabbed a diaper and ran over the baby and pretended to change her diaper.

12, 15, 19, 3

I never put Kenzie's stats from her 12 and 15 month check ups so I'm including them with her 19 month stats and Jordan's 3 year old ones since I just took them to the doctor a couple weeks ago.

12 Months
Height: 30.5 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 18lbs (10th percentile)
Head: 18 inches (about 55th percentile)

15 months
Height: 31 inches (about 60th percentile)
Weight: 21lbs (about 15th percentile)
Head: 18.5 inches (75th percentile)

19 months
Height: 32 inches (about 50th percentile)
Weight: 22.5 lbs (about 20th percentile)

Jordan:
3 years
Height:39 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 36.5lbs (about 85th percentile)

On Jordan's sheet it shows how big he'll be if he continues to grow at the rate he is right now. It says that he will be about 72 inches which would be 6ft tall and about 187 lbs when he's 20 years old.

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Jordan made up the ending of the song by himself and sings it often.

Sewing Projects

My sister Michelle came in town last weekend for Easter. On Monday she came over and helped me sew a skirt for Kenzie. Here's some pictures of the final project.

She was crawling away from me in anger because she wanted to see the pictures I was taking instead of being in them :)

I really like the way it turned out. I think it's super cute. But now I'm nervous for her to wear it because I don't want her to get it dirty.

A few weeks ago I saw on a blog a tutorial for making a tie so after making the skirt I was feeling motivated to make some matching ties. I worked some last night and some today and finished 3 ties. Here is one of them:

They still need velcro on the neckbands to hold them together.

Don't they look cute together? I plan to make some more ties and skirts and maybe even a dress if the pattern I have doesn't look to complicated. Thanks Shell for helping me and getting me back into sewing!

Easter

We colored eggs last Saturday. I made the Easter dye from normal food coloring for the first time. It turned out pretty well, but seemed a little harder to get off their hands than normal. But maybe they just just got messier this year.
Jackson excited to color eggs.

Kenzie drawing on an egg. She didn't color too much on it. She just kept trying to eat the crayons.

Jackson, Jordan, and Doug with the eggs they wrote their names on.

Jordan coloring an egg. He loved doing it. And didn't get as messy as I expected him to. He had the cleanest hands of the 3. He liked using the spoon instead of his hands.

Kenzie coloring an egg. She loved doing it. I thought she would make a bigger mess, but other than her hands, she didn't make much of a mess. She put the eggs in carefully and didn't splash at all.

More Kenzie

Isn't she cute?

Finally looking at the camera.

Cute Jordan.

More of Mackenzie.

Kenzie's dirty hands.

Doug with his Mexico egg.

Jack's dirty hands. I was worried they would be stained for a couple days, but after soaking them in the bath for awhile they came pretty clean.

The finished eggs. They turned out to have too soft of shells and cracked pretty easily.

Every time I sit on one a stool I have at least one kid that wants to sit on my lap. I decided to be nice Saturday and let 2 sit on my lap. Aren't they cute? I love how Kenzie is hugging Jordan.

Cute kids again.

That evening we met up with my sisters at Ashlee's house and cooked desserts for Sunday's Easter dinner. Since it was the first good weather day we've had this spring the kids played at the park and in the backyard most of the time. My boys were so excited to finally be able to wear shorts. They've been disappointed that they can't continue to wear them outside of the house because it's been cold since that one day of warmth. We can't wait for spring to really come, if it ever does...

On Sunday morning the kids looked for eggs and their Easter baskets. Since we have 9:00 church we made them get dressed before the hunt so that we wouldn't be late for church.

Jack

Kenzie loved finding the eggs.

Kenzie with some of her candy. She didn't care too much about her basket. At first she kept pulling out the egg candy and saying "egg" since she knew that's what they were looking for. Then she found the other candy and kept pulling it out saying "candy." She loves candy.

That afternoon we went to my parents' house for dinner and a big egg hunt outside. Besides us, there were my parents, both sisters and their families, and 4 families from my parents' ward there. My dad hid a little less than 300 eggs filled with money for the kids to find. And for the first time we found them all pretty quickly. The kids had a blast finding them.

She found one!

Jack

Kenzie loved carrying around her bag and walking around looking for eggs. She didn't really care that she didn't find too many. She was mostly happy to be outside I think.

We really had a great Easter. We are so grateful for the reason we celebrate Easter. This year I was feeling even more grateful for the resurrection of Christ. My sister's baby passed away when she was 35 weeks pregnant, back in March, and all throughout the day I kept thinking of him and how grateful I am that Christ died and was resurrected for all of us, including my nephew. I am so thankful we can all be resurrected and be together again with our families forever.
