Poor little Jack

Jackson woke up last night with the flu. He threw up a couple times but slept well. He was so sick today. He didn't throw up much but he just laid on the couch or sat on mine or Doug's lap all day. Jackson and I didn't go to church. But Doug was very kind and took Jordan with him so I could focus on Jack. He said he wanted to play with his train tacks with me so I got them ready but he just couldn't sit up (see below picture) and he said he wanted to sit in my lap but then just kept trying to lay down still. So we moved back to the couch and watched tv and read books. He even fell asleep when he was laying in my arms. And he also fell asleep just sitting on the couch when I was reading a book to him. He didn't eat much either today. I just hope he gets better tonight as he sleeps through it. It's just so sad to see him.

11 months!

Jordan is 11 months today. I really can't believe he'll be one in just one month. He really likes making messes lately. He's learned how to open all the cupboards in the kitchen and likes to try to pull everything out. Doug thinks we should baby proof it but I want to go the natural route and just try to teach him... We'll see how that goes. He really only goes in there when I'm cooking or cleaning in there so it's not too hard to block him from opening them if I don't want him too. He also likes to pull the books off the shelf and the puzzles. Today he said no for the first time. I was telling him no to stop him from pulling all the books off and he said something that sounded like it. I don't know if he knows what it means... But he might because later he was trying to pull Jack's place mat off the table and he was saying no. He at least knows the appropriate times to say it :). He has 6 teeth now. 2 on top and 4 on the bottom. He's got all but the first two in the last few weeks. He can kind of say all done with sign language. But I think he really thinks it means "I want cheerios or kix." Because whenever I ask if he's all done (when he stops wanting to eat his baby food) he starts waving his hands and then looks at the cheerios and kix boxes. He also has been doing it lately when we're not eating so I wonder if that means he wants som cheerios or kix... It will be nice when he can talk :) He also can say uh oh and it is seriously so cute. He says it a lot. He likes to throw his binky off his changing table and say uh-oh. I just love it. Here's a cute video of him saying it....

I'm so so funny...

That's what Jack said this morning after doing something that he apparently thought was pretty funny. I don't even remember what it was.

This morning I got Jack up and brought him down to start eating his breakfast then went to get Jordan up. The whole time I was upstairs with Jordan Jackson kept calling my name. I would respond with what? but he just kept saying "mommy." So when Jordan and I came downstairs he said we need to say a prayer. I think he had taken one bite of his waffle then waited for me so we could say the prayer. I said "you're right, we forgot." He said "yeah, I am right. I'm so smart."

This date in history

On this very date just 4 years ago Doug asked me to be his wife. Am I the only person who likes to remember these types of dates... you know when you got engaged, first time he said I love you, first kiss, first time he called, first date... Well I like to remember them and remind Doug of them often too. But we both usually end up forgetting on the actual day. I guess it probably has something to do with the fact that I'm a stay at home mom and don't really pay much attention to what the date is, other than what day of the week it is of course. I thought I should post about our engagement in honor of this day. Prior to the official engagement Doug and I had together decided that we wanted to get married. So we had gone ring shopping. I picked out the one I wanted. I had it sized to fit my finger and Doug bought it. Then on February 11 Doug was told that the ring was ready to be picked up. Doug didn't have a car so I drove him to Zales and we picked up the ring. I don't think there's any way he could have picked it up on his own without me figuring it out... We were pretty much always together except school and work and sleep. I would have noticed if he wanted to spend an afternoon away from me. After we got the ring we went back to his apartment where he told me a nice poem he had written for me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes. We celebrated and told my roommates and went to stake dance then to my sister's house to show her my ring and tell he the big news then to Doug's brother's house I think. I remember for the next week I just kept looking at my ring and thinking how it was so sparkly. I probably did it all semester actually. and still do... just not as often.

Steps

Jordan has been taking a few steps lately. He stands up by himself a lot too. He has pretty good balance I think. Tonight he started to seem more interested in walking. He kept standing up then taking a few steps.

A stool must solve everything

Jackson was trying to push Jordan in the basket. Since Jordan weighs about the same (if not more) Jackson couldn't move it. He looked around for something that could help him. Then he saw the stool and grabbed it and stood on it thinking it would help him push it. Surprisingly it didn't work...

The Boys

Happy Jordan in his high chair.

Jackson modeling for me.

Yesterday, Jack and I were sitting on the couch reading or watching TV and Jordan went to play behind the couch. I kept hearing him play with something sounds like box that had some plastic on it, but I didn't check to see what it was because it was keeping him happy and entertained. But after a little bit I realized it was probably the tissue box so I had to turn around and check. And sure enough he had pulled out all the tissues from the box. When he saw me look at him he smiled really big. He loved playing the box for the rest of the day. He liked putting things in it.

This is the cute scene I came down to this morning. Doug always gets the kids up on Saturday morning and gets them breakfast while I sleep or read or just lay in bed and enjoy some peace and quiet. I thought they were cute all sitting next to each other.

Jordan wanted to share his kix with daddy. What a nice boy.

For the Unbelievers

This is for the those who don't believe couponing really is worth it. It's also for those who need motivation that the time and effort going into it is worth it. Last month I save $105 from coupons. I also will be getting a little less than $25 back in rebates. I spent about $259 on all food, baby stuff, and household stuff for the month. That's not counting the rebate money I'll be getting back. That's like spending $234 for the month. And we didn't go hungry. So it really is worth the effort. At least I think so. But I also enjoy it.

New Calling

Doug got a call on Thursday night from the bishop saying he wanted to meet with us. I wasn't home so they set up an appointment for this morning at 8:30 in the morning. As if 9:00 church isn't bad enough.... I had to wake my kids up at about 7:30. (But they were surprisingly happy... prayers are answered:)) So all weekend I kept wondering what our new callings were going to be. We thought we'd both be getting new callings. I had tried thinking of all the calling that I knew someone had just gotten released or had heard that they were looking for someone for that calling. I had even wondered about us being the new marriage and parenting class teacher :) I thought it would be a little weird trying to teach people with teenagers (or even a three year old) how to raise their children. My sister even got me more worried when she said she had only been asked to serve in a calling when she was asked to be primary president. But today all our questions were answered. Doug didn't get a new calling. I am now the new ward girls' camp director. I was pretty shocked. Still am. I'm not a big camper. I enjoyed girls' camp though. And I'm sooo happy I'm still in young women's. And also so happy that I still get to go to relief society.

A funny story: I got set apart after church and Doug and the kids were in there too. After I was done I went to pick up Jack from his chair and he said "it's my turn." And he kept saying it. and he kept getting a little louder. He even said he wouldn't go outside or go home. But when I said "I'll miss you" he deciding he was coming home with us.

Another Jackson story: Today after sacrement Jackson's nursery teacher (sister maddie's mommy who he now knows her real name :)) walked by him and said hi and said she was excited for him to come to nursery today. When she left he looked at me with a huge smile on his face and said "She's so nice!"

Snake update: Jordan really know what a snakes says. He can do the snake sound whenever we ask him what a snake says. I think it's so cute and want him to do all the time.
