Stitches

After Kenzie got some food after we got home from the hike we went to Urgent Care. They got us back in the room quickly, and the nurse had one of the doctors look at the cut to make sure they could do it there. The doctor said yes so the nurse checked us in. She then cleaned the wound. Kenzie said none it hurt at all.
Kenzie and her wound.

But unfortunately, while cleaning the nurse and the doctor realized it was deeper than expected. The doctor asked another doctor to come in to get her opinion. The second doctor said they for sure couldn't do it there. It was too deep, and they don't actually have head stitches. It would have left a bigger scar if they had sewed her up there. She actually recommended we go to a children's hospital to get it fixed, but said an emergency room would work. I decided since it was only stitches in her forehead, it should be fine to just go the ER in Covington rather than drive all the way to Seattle.

We stopped at Petco on our way to the ER so Kenzie could pick out a toy for her bunny. She got the bunny some little balls.

The check in spot at the ER.

Her room. I thought we wouldn't be there very long, especially since they got us in our room quickly. But was very wrong. We were there for over 2 hours. Mostly just waiting. They had a tv in there, but since I thought we'd be quick we didn't turn it on until the last half hour or so.

The nurse brought Kenzie a popsicle. Kenzie really liked her nurse. She kept saying she was so nice and that she had similar hair and hands to my mom.

She got 4 stitches! She was super nervous about getting them. They put a numbing gel on it and she was so worried it wouldn't work. But it did and she couldn't feel a thing. After the doctor left she was surprised he really had put them in and was done. Afterwards we went to Cold Stone to get her some ice cream.

On Wednesday we went to the doctor and she got them removed.

Just a scar and some tape to give some extra support. The doctor told us the scar would fade as she gets older and would probably disappear completely by the time she's an adult. She's happy to have a scar so she can by like Harry Potter. She's only disappointed that it's not in the shape of a lightning bolt:)
