Doug surprised me with a weekend getaway the weekend before our 10th anniversary. He had told me a couple weeks before that I needed to get a sub for my primary class so I knew we were doing something, but I didn't know what. He arranged with the Crabtrees to watch our kids. He booked a hotel in Seattle and found several fun things for us to do. It was my favorite weekend trip we've done!
After checking into the hotel we ate at the Cheesecake Factory and then walked to the Paramount Theater to see The Phantom of the Opera. We both really enjoyed the play!
Us at the hotel. We stayed at the Sheraton in Seattle.
On Saturday we walked to Pike Place Market to get some donuts for breakfast and then walked a ways to the Seattle Center. We ate Mod Pizza for lunch. Then we went to the Science Center to see Avengers. We both really liked it!
We watched the fountain. I love coming here. It's always so relaxing to watch the water in the warm sunshine. And entertaining to watch the people playing in the water:)
We walked around the Seattle Center for awhile.
Then we went to the Melting Pot for the first time. I've been wanting to try it for awhile so I was excited to go. We both loved the cheese and chocolate fondue, but neither of us really liked the main dish. I thought it was pretty bland. Plus it was kind of gross to have raw meat sitting with us. I was worried it would be cooked enough. It also took so long to complete all the courses. Mostly just because it takes 3-5 minutes cook each piece of chicken. We were there for an hour and a half I think. Next time we go we're just going to get cheese and dessert!
Saturday night we went to the Seattle Symphony. It was our first symphony and we had fun!
On Sunday we stayed in the hotel until 11 or 12 and then grabbed some lunch at Taco Bell. We wanted to hike to Snoqualmie Falls, but when we got there we realized everyone else in Washington had the same idea and that we'd come back again when it was quite so crowded. So we just went back home and hung out there for awhile until it was time to go eat dinner at Ashlee's.
It was such a fun weekend! I'm a lucky girl to have Doug as my husband these last 10 years! (and double lucky to have a sister who is willing to take my kids for the weekend even when she's in the middle of trying to get her house packed up and her new house painted and the old house ready for renters to look at.:))
