T-ball

Jackson started playing t-ball a few weeks ago. He doesn't know anyone on his team, but is loving it anyways. He's had 2 practices and 1 game so far. Doug and I have decided that we like t-ball more than soccer already.

His first practice.

Although Kenzie is showing us her grumpy face, she likes going to t-ball practice. Since his first practice we've also gone to his game and a Mariners' game and both times she talked about the "play place" at baseball. She was disappointed to find out we weren't going to t-ball practice. Her and Jordan love playing on the play ground at the school.

After talking to the kids, the coach had them all line up and play catch. I thought it was pretty brave to give about 10 5 and 6 year olds balls and tell them to throw them to each other. I thought for sure someone was going to get hit by someone else's ball. But no one did. The coach had it all under control.

Jackson during batting practice. He has a pretty small strike zone.  Too bad in t-ball the don't have balls and strikes. They let the kids have 3 or 4 tries to hit it when the coach pitches and then 3 or 4 to hit it off the tee. There are no out. Everyone gets to first base every time they bat and can't go more than that, until the last batter. That batter always gets a home run.

This is from picture day before Jack's first game.

The coach requested that the kids all have a 5 gallon bucket to sit on  and keep there stuff by during the game. It helps keeps thing organized. So far we really like the coach.

Jackson's first at-bat.

He missed all the coach pitches but got a good hit off the tee.

He made it to first! :)

After Jack's team batted the coach asked who wanted to be catcher. Jackson volunteered but he didn't know what he was getting himself into. Can you tell by this picture he wasn't very excited once he realized that he had to wear the mask? After the game he said he didn't like being catcher because the mask wouldn't stay on and he couldn't see.

But he looks pretty cute waiting for the ball.

Alli had a game at the same time (she's on a different team because we were too late signing up to get Jack on her team). Kimber came to Jack's game and entertained Kenzie the whole time. She's welcome to come to all of Jack's games :) She played with Coleman some too.

Doug and Coleman.

I thought Jack should love catcher because he got so many chances to catch and throw the ball.

Jack's the one that's squatting down in the back. There was also a kid laying on the ground in the back too:)  I do think Jack was actually just trying to get in what he thought was the correct position to be in. Or maybe he was just tired of standing...

Doing a cheer for the other team. I was disappointed that they didn't say anything like "2,4,6,8 who do we appreciate?" Maybe boys don't do that though...

Getting ready to high five the other team.
