Fun in the Snow

Doug came to play in the snow at Hyak this year. I bought him a snowsuit last year for Christmas or his birthday so he could come with us. We had a great time with him there!

Doug got too hot walking up the hill.

Doug and Jackson played snow football.

When they get tired of walking up the big hill, they go to some smaller, bumpier hills next to the big hill.

Doug crashed!

Coleman got hot and sweaty in his hat.

Doug started to spin the kids on the round sled.

It was a fun day!

Basketball

Jackson's number 5. He did great. They were playing in the 5th/6th grade league this year and most of the other teams had kids a lot taller than him (and most the kids on his team.)

His coach bought all the kids matching headbands and wrist bands. Jackson loved wearing his because it kept the hair out of his eyes :)

Jordan improved so much since the last time he played 2 years ago. He made a lot of baskets and was a good team player.

Jordan again

Coleman is number 2. This was his first year playing. He loved it and said he wants to be a basketball coach when he grows up. He didn't do much on the court though. His coaches were nice and had the other kids pass it into him often after they other team scored or had him pass it in. That way he was able to touch the ball at least a little. Any time he got the ball he passed it pretty quick. He spent most of the time on offense just trying to get away from the defender defending him. He ran all over trying to lose him. But he forget that the reason he was trying to lose the defender was so that he would be open for a pass. A few times his teammates tried to pass it to him, but he wasn't paying attention. He was also great at staying on the person he was playing defense.

Kids Stuff

Coleman loved playing Hangman a lot back in January.

Kenzie playing basketball. All the kids played this year.

Coleman. He's the one in blue shoes and yellow shirt.

I found these Christmas trees for only about $.25 so I bought each of the kids one. Coleman decorated his.

Coleman loves cards, and loves to sort them.

Coleman's favorite books. He has memorized I Will Surprise My Friend.

Homeschool

We are doing a couple group classes this year with some friends. This one is a design club. Each month there is a problem that they must come up with ideas to solve. They design and make a solution for the problem. This one was making a strong bridge. They tested the strength by putting as many pennies as they could on it.

Back before Kenzie got her expander she made this picture. She was so worried that her mouth was going to be so wide after she got it :)

The kids made some self portraits:

New Years Eve

The first picture with my new phone :)

We spent New Year's Eve at my parents' house. The Crabtrees were there some of the time. Cam and Sam stayed the whole time, but Kimber was off with friends and Ashlee, Konrad, and Alli went to hang out with other friends. It was a great night!

We finished a fun puzzle!

My new toys

Doug got me a mini Super Nintendo for Christmas! It has a bunch of games loaded on to it. So now I spend my nights playing Super Mario World. I've almost beaten it!

I also got a new phone. My phone was having awful reception and I was going threw my minutes faster so it made sense for Doug and I to do a plan together. I finally upgraded to a smart phone. I was just going to get a flip phone, but this one was cheaper (and we would have had to go to Target to get the flip phone) and it mostly fits in my pocket. I'm excited to have a camera always with me. And it will be helpful to look use Google Maps, although I will probably still often use my car GPS since it's easier to see while driving.
