Hurricane Ridge

Straight from the zoo we drove to a hotel in Port Angeles, grabbed dinner at a really yummy Mexican restaurant, and then went to Hurricane Ridge for a hike and star gazing. We were surprised to find a star party happening in the parking lot. Doug still set up his telescopes, but we were also able to look through several more. I thought Doug's views were the best though. Through his we were able to see Saturn and the Andromeda Galaxy. The next morning we drove back to Hurricane Ridge and did another hike before heading home. It was a fun, short vacation!
Kenzie taking a picture of a deer close up!

Doug took this of Coleman, me, and Jordan while we rested on a bench.

Kenzie saw some bears in the distance and took a picture of them! It was very exciting! And made me little nervous to see bears around :)

This is my zoomed in screen shot of Kenzie's picture of the bears.

It's so pretty up there!

Some of us were done star gazing before the others. It was really cold too. Kenzie and I would warm up in the car, then go back outside, then to the car, and so on.

She used a clip to tighten her hood.

Ready to start our morning hike!

We saw a wombat!

We missed Jackson who had to stay home to work.

Another (or the same, who knows?) wombat!

These 3 decided to say something to people they passed on the way back down. But they turned it into the alphabet game. Doug started and said "A wombat" to the first person. (The person had asked what animal it was, so it worked perfectly.) Kenzie said "Beautiful day, isn't it?" or something like that. They only made it to letter i or j before we finished though. Coleman and I just played our normal Harry Potter alphabet game:)
