Hawaii Week 4

We had another fun week! It's crazy how fast time is flying. We have about a week and a half left here. The Kenyons and Crabtrees have even less than that.

Monday we just stayed home and played at Hukilau.
Cam, Nati, Kenzie, Doug

Doug and Jordan playing in the water.

Sam dug a hole and sat in it. I kept waiting for the water to surround her, but it never did.

On Tuesday Ashlee and Konrad left for Maui because Konrad had an appointment there. They stayed until Wednesday. We went with the other to Matsumoto's and Shark's Cove. While we were at Shark's Cove we saw Shayla and Konner. We talked to Shayla for a bit, but Konnor was up watching their stuff. They were there for their honeymoon since they couldn't go on one last year because of Covid. It was so fun to see them!

Clearance rack matching shirts!

Jordan's the finisher of shave ice. All those bowls are lined up waiting to be eaten by him. He finally started getting smalls so he could more of the leftovers.

All finished!

We went to the part of Shark's Cove with the beach. It's really not as good for snorkeling though so most who wanted to snorkel swam to where we were last time or on the other side of the big rocks. This middle section was nice for Coleman and Cam though. The water was more calm and since Cam had her lifejacket and Coleman had a kick board they could swim around easily. Those who snorkeled elsewhere said they saw some really cool fish and some eels. (Shayla and Konnor had started out in this middle section, but we told Shayla about the other place we were last time and that it was much clearer and better for seeing fish so they went over there and saw some great things too.)

That night the Kenyons took a college student they know out for dinner so Kenzie wanted to make some cookies with me. They were yummy!

These two love playing outside together. Sometimes they just sit under the tree and talk.

Lots and lots of Hearts games are happening. Doug made a really cool online scorekeeper that also tracks stats. So now everyone can instantly see their win percentages and average score and everything else they want to know.

Wednesday we went to Waikiki. Kenzie had been really wanting to go to the ABC Store there. Plus it's always fun to go at least once!

We brought the surf board and Jordan and Richard both took it out. Jordan didn't last long though.

Jordan trying to surf. He said the waves would bounce off the rocks and that made it hard to surf.

Jack, Kenna, Alli, Sam, Jordan

The girls wanted to go shopping. Doug didn't think they should go alone (it was a lot of girls for Sam to keep track of!) He offered to go, but he hates shopping so I said I'd go instead. We were gone for an hour and a half or so, so it's really good he didn't go :) Almost everyone went home with some treasures though. Kenzie and I had to go back to the stores after dinner though because I didn't bring any money so we needed Doug to buy us our stuff :)

Kenzie and Nati trying on hats.

Cam wanted to swim when we got back so her and Colie swam until we went to an early dinner.

These 4, Michelle, Richard, Cam, Coleman, Doug, and I went to the Cheesecake Factory. Everyone else went to Cheeseburger in Paradise. Jordan ordered $10 steak with his alfredo :) The waitress just asked if wanted chicken or steak and he loves steak so of course he asked for that, not realizing it would add $10 his order.

Another funny thing that happened was that Coleman picked up the slab of butter that came with the bread because he thought it was soap :) We had a good laugh with him about that!

Kenzie's cute hat she bought!

On our way home we stopped at a view point. It was really cool!

Doug sent me this picture from a week or two ago when these four went golfing. Doug has gone I think 3 times this trip. Their usual favorite, Kahuku is much more expensive than it used to be so Doug doesn't like to go as much. He and Konrad and the big boys play basketball at a nearby park though several times a week.

Doug golfing.

On Thursday a lot of the family walked and swam to Goat Island. Doug and Richard had gone earlier that week and wanted to take the kids (and whoever wanted to go) there too. We also hung out at home and then ate an early dinner before going to Sunset beach to watch the sunset.

The Goat Island pictures are from Ashlee...
Kenna cut her arm!

There are a lot of birds, but no goats, on Goat Island.

Everyone that went (except Ash, who was taking the pictures:))

Doug said the waves are huge, as big as Makapuu. Jordan thinks they're smaller though.

They walked around and looked for sea glass and shells.

There were eggs and nests.

They could walk most of the way, but had to swim a little of it.

Swimming at our beach:

Doing some stunting.

Sunset at Sunset:

Nati practicing her stunting. She was a great flyer with her wobbly bases:)

Ash and Sam had a harder time than Alli and Kenna.

Nati did great staying tight though!

They did it!

Jordan didn't really care about the sunset. He just wanted to read :)

My parents!

Kenzie, Nati, Shell, Richard

When Coleman joined the picture he leaned on Alli and me and we almost knocked everyone over:)

My mom got some picture of Doug and me.

Twins!

Friday we hung out at our beach all day. And then we had date night that night. We went to the PCC food trucks instead of Kahuku. I didn't like my Thai food as much, but everyone else seemed happy with their food.

Doug reading.

It's so beautiful here!

Ashlee built a sand fish.

Waiting for a good wave!

Kenzie and Nati

Jordan reading again.

Coleman and Cam

On Saturday Doug and Jordan and others went to Goat Island again. Then we went to Matsumoto's and Pipeline. It was a great day!

Richard put up a bunch of skip cards for Coleman to see.

Coleman loves coconut and watermelon.

Cam got cherry and lemonade.

Jackson always gets candy. He doesn't really like shave ice.

These three usually stay together and let themselves get pushed along by the current far away from us.

Richard skim boarding down the hill into the waves.

Jordan likes to kneel when he rides down the hill.

Konrad going down.

Coleman loves Pipeline. He played in the water a long time. For awhile he was diving under the water and finding rocks and skipping them.

Richard pulling Jackson into the water.

Sam's flip! She had some awesome ones!

Konrad's flip!

And Richard's flip!

Today we had church this morning. It was only about a half hour long because they just had two youth speakers and no adult speakers. Then after lunch we went to some lookout spots and Sandy Beach to see the big waves. Coleman was unhappy we left home again on a Sunday, but we still had a pretty good time :)

We drove to the first lookout, a blowhole and saw there was no parking so we just went to Sandy Beach with my parents. The Kenyons and Crabtrees (and Jack and Kenzie who were riding with them) stayed at the blowhole for awhile and skipped Sandy Beach. We all met up at the second lookout.

Sandy Beach:

Showing his true feelings about the outing. He didn't complain at all, just looked unhappy :)

At first the waves weren't seeming to big, but once we went on the sand and got close to them we saw they were good sized. It was fun to watch the locals skim board and boogie board and surf. We saw an older lady go close to the water, looking like she was going to go in, with blow up water wings on. A lifeguard ran and told her that she shouldn't go in the water. We were glad he kept her safe!

My mom didn't want to come in the sand so she stayed up by the parking lot and took this picture.

The lookout:

The wind was blowing Kenzie's shirt out :)

Doug's got a different smile in this one.

These are picture from my sisters and mom from both lookouts:
