Hawaii Week 1!

We got to Hawaii on Tuesday and have been having an amazing time!
Kenzie on the plane after we landed. We had to wear masks the whole time which wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. The Crabtrees were also on our plane, which was fun even though we didn't talk much to them. They were seated near us, other than Sam who sat in first class, but we all just kept busy doing our own things.

Coleman watching Jackson. While flying, there was a man who had an oxygen tank that went to the bathroom, but on his way back he was really struggling getting to his seat. So a flight attendant had him sit in a seat behind us. They had him use several oxygen tanks that they had on the plane. I was pretty worried about him, but he did okay for the rest of the flight. When we arrived they had everyone stay on the plane while paramedics came aboard to try to get him off first to take him to the hospital, but they weren't able to get him through the aisle on the small wheel chair. They unloaded everyone up until our row (the Crabtrees were in the first rows that weren't able to get off yet) and were able to get him off the plane with the help of some firemen. I really hope he's doing good now!

This is the view from our house. Hukilau Beach! It's amazing!

Coleman and Cam

Sam got her swimsuit on and ran into the water as soon as they got there. We weren't expecting her to just jump in :) The other kids besides Cam all got their swimsuits on and swam in the dark for awhile.

My mom, Ashlee, Sam, and I did our first big shopping trip at Walmart and Costco while everyone else stayed home and swam/worked. When we were leaving Costco Ashlee and my mom were getting food at the Costco food court, so Sam and I decided we'd start loading up the car. As were heading into the parking lot, we realized neither of us knew where we parked. We figured out the general area of where we thought we'd parked, but before we were even close to the car Ashlee had caught up to us. :) Sam gets her sense of direction from me.

Kenzie and Cam sent some pictures to Nati.

Jordan

Jordan boogieboarding.

Doug had to work the first 2 days we were here. He mostly worked outside with his shirt off. He also shared his video (before taking his shirt off, of course! :)) to show that he was on the beach.

It's so nice to just go in the backyard to swim and not have to pack everything, including lunch, every time we go the beach.

Cute Cam

Cam in the doghouse

Grandpa convinced these three to play Hearts with him.

Kenzie and Colie reading in bed. We wake up early, especially the first couple mornings. It has slowly been getting better and better each morning. Kenzie and Coleman slept in mine and Doug's room the first two nights and now Coleman and Jordan sleep in it. Whoever sleeps in with us gets in an hour or so of reading before we get up. Coleman finished the fourth Harry Potter this morning.

Thursday we stayed at the house all day. Coleman and Cam boogieboarding.

So beautiful!

Coleman and Cam playing in the sand. Coleman had some boogieboard burns from the previous days' playing so he didn't want to get in the water too much.

Kenzie eating her otterpop. She also had some boogieboard burns.

Jack, Coleman, Cam, Jordan

Ashlee bought a shovel and some big buckets to help the kids in their sandcastle making. Jordan dug a big whole.

Kenzie skimboarding. We brought this from home. We got it many years ago from Hunter during a family reunion.

Jordan and Jack playing in the sand.

Cam and Coleman. The stayed like this for hours.

Kenzie photoshoot:

Jackson made this! He watched some youtube videos on how to best make sandcastles. He made a huge mound at first of wet sand and then carved it. It turned out great!

Konrad carved a car for Cam with the mound she made around herself.

There was a big hole through it.

Doug working.

The car Konrad made.

Sam and Jack working together.

Kenzie and Nati so happy to be together! The Kenyons arrived Thursday late afternoon.

The house Jack and Sam built.

The otherside. I've been very impressed with their abilities.

Ash found a crab.

Konrad's creation.

Friday, we went to Matsumoto's, shopping in Haliewa, and Pipeline.
Kenzie made tie-dye shirts for her and Nati. And they got matching shoes.

Coleman got his own shave ice! He liked it, but liked my watermelon and Michelle's coconut better. He didn't like raspberry or lemonade. He also tried vanilla and banana, but isn't sure if he really likes them or not.

All the grandkids. They've grown a lot since we started coming!

Resting after shopping.

Grandma, Grandpa, Richard, Shell, and Coleman at Pipeline. The Crabtrees were a little burned from the previous day so they opted to just go back to the house.

Jordan, Kenna, Jackson spent most of their time there in the water. The waves were pretty big.

Saturday we were going to go shopping at the swap meet, but then decided to just go on Wednesday instead because traffic should be better then. So we just stayed home most of the day and swam at our beach. Doug and Konrad played basketball in the morning. Then Doug, Jordan, Richard, and my dad went golfing after lunch.
Richard and Jack playing football.

The girls and women reading and relaxing.

Coleman playing in the sand.

This is his cool creation!

Kenzie, Nati, Sam, and Cam digging.

Doug

Coleman made a barrier around his creation to try to protect it. It worked for awhile, but the water still destroyed it by this morning.

hThe adult had date night at the Kahuku food trucks. Coconut shrimp and thai food.. My Thai Garlic was so good. I can't wait for our next date night!

While we were away Kimber did makeovers for Kenzie, Nati, and Cam.

This morning we had church!

Three matching girls.

Jordan has been reading the Michael Vey series and is obsessed. Other than golfing and a few games, that's pretty much all he did yesterday. He's already on book 3 and started book one last week. He also had to wait a few days before book 2 was available from the library.
