Vacation Part 1: Sacramento

We went on a 2 week long vacation the week before Thanksgiving and the week of Thanksgiving. Our first stop was Sacramento to see Tyler and Rose and their kids.

We went to Lila and Avery's soccer games, the park, a salmon hatchery, played games, and watched a movie. All the pictures are from the salmon hatchery.

Kenzie, Avery, and Grace
Kenzie wasn't feeling great. She had had a fever the day before when we were driving. Luckily it mostly gone by Saturday, but she still wasn't feeling 100%.

The fish here were huge! It was cool to see this end of the salmon egg-laying process. We see them in Washington before they go south to lay their eggs and they're so much smaller.

Sugar Cube Castles

We made sugar cube castles during co-op. The glue dissolved the sugar when they used too much. But the castles didn't stay together very well with just a little glue. I think we'll try to make igloos with frosting and sugar cubes and see if that works better.

Hair

I gave Coleman a haircut...
It's super short.

Much shorter than I've ever cut it before.

He's still so handsome!

I actually did my hair! It's so long!

Homeschooling

Here are some of the homeschooling things we did in October
I guess this one is actually homeschooling, but they were all (except Coleman) reading during lunch.

We made chalk paint.

For co-op we had some snacks. I think we also made some pretzels that day.

The kids did some sumo wrestling.

It was fun for awhile, but ended with both boys upset. I shouldn't have left them unsupervised. They got a little too rough.

We made didgeridoos at co-op.

The kids painted biblical scenes in a Seattle setting similar to Jan Van Eyck painting biblical scenes in the setting he lived in. They also used oil paints, which I learned are hard to clean up. Luckily I found a way to make it easier and now I know not to let the kids use 20 paint brushed when they use these paints. The kids weren't big fans of the paint. They said it was too stinky.

Coleman Jesus giving someone (maybe Coleman? I don't remember) some bread.

Jordan's space needle.

The kids made spiny anteaters at co-op.

Soccer

Here's some pictures of their last few soccer games.
Coach Eric talking to the girls.

She scored another goal! I think she had 5 or 6 for the season.

Jackson's team is huge!

One week it was so wet that Kenzie's pants were soaked to her knees just from the water splashing from the ground.

For the last game Kenzie only played defense. She actually likes defense a lot. She's a little overconfident, and thinks she's the best one to keep the other team from scoring so even when she played offence she always runs back and plays defense too, which means she incredibly tired from running the entire field over and over again.

Getting her award.

Her team!

Jackson. I didn't go to his end of the year party because it was at the same time as our ward's trunk or treat. Doug took him and they had a great time. He didn't get any trophies or medals this year.

Picture Dump

Here are some pictures from October:
I made a preschool portfolio for Coleman since he didn't get one at preschool. It's not as great as the one's Ashlee makes, but it works :)

This is the cute birthday party plan Mackenzie made. It says "Happy Brithday me" "Puppy prady" (party) Her invite list: "sean, arin, ulivea, jadu, Anna, Tuckr, Hutr" (Sean, Aaron, Alyvia, Judah, Anna, Tucker, Hunter) "cacke" "game's" and "gode bag's" (goody bags)

Mackenzie was losing teeth like crazy.

Coleman loves reading Bob books!

We played at a park on a nice sunny day. I miss nice sunny days.

Coleman started the dish washer and then listened to make sure it actually started :)

I took him clothes shopping and he got this outfit, including the slippers.

He also got this minecraft creeper jacket.

Kenzie has been loving to sew lately and wants to do it pretty often. She made this cute pillow.

Kenzie went to a birthday party at a ceramic painting studio called Glazed Art. She got to paint this penguin.

Kenzie's birthday wish list.

Kenzie made me this note: Dear mommy, I love, love love (and many, many more loves) you. Your the best. I'm sorry I was bad. Can you please look for Rodolf today. Love Kenzie Look--->

This was on the back. Kenzie is saying, "Please" and I am saying, "okay" She really wanted me to find her Rudolph stuffed animal that day :)

And another cute note from Kenzie. I love her notes!

Kenzie made this design and wanted me to take a picture of it before it was destroyed.

Kenzie's pumpkin hair for her dance halloween day. The girls could only dress up their hair. Another girl also did pumpkin hair, but hers was a lot more noticeable, and the stem was longer.

Jackson made a minecraft head out of a box. Doug tried it on.
