Christmas Eve

Luckily all the ice on the roads melted over night so Doug and I could go to my parents' house in the morning. We saw several cars in ditches and broken signs and were extra glad we just stayed home the day before.
We brought their Christmas Eve presents for them to open.

Jammies!

We played games. Coleman even played Hearts! He hadn't played one game since January.

Ashlee brought some cookies for us to decorate.

Ready to open presents from each other.

Our yummy turkey! My mom is a great cook!

All the Ridings, except Kimber and JJ, who stayed in Boise  this year.

Pinata time!

Iced In

On Dec 23rd, Doug and I woke up to very icy windows.
I had never seen them look like this.

The roads were also covered in ice.

The kids had all slept at either the Crabtree's house or my parents' house so it was just at home. We decided to wait until the afternoon to try to drive over. But our neighborhood road was still too icy. The van was sliding all over. We couldn't even get the car back up the driveway into the garage. We spread ice cream salt and table salt all over the driveway to melt the ice and after awhile were finally able to get it back in. While it was in the driveway, it had slid down the driveway a bit, but luckily went in the grass a little so it didn't keep sliding into the road.

Later that night, Doug looked out the window and saw that someone had slid through the grass and hit out basketball hoop, which broke it :( They did knock on our door or a second, but we didn't hear it. We just saw it from our doorbell camera. We were just glad they didn't crash into our house and that our van wasn't out there still or else they would have hit it.

Gingerbread Houses and Volleyball

We decorated gingerbread houses at Ashlee's house.

Doug's and mine. Doug's was a volcano that was also a game. He had some of the kids play the game after we were done. They each would move a gummy bear along the path, but there was a hole in the middle so one bear fell in.

The other side of mine.

After gingerbread houses my mom, Ashlee, Sam, and I went to watch Cam play volleyball (and Konrad coach:)) The other went back to my parents house to play. Michelle met her friends for dinner.
