This year the reunion was in Las Vegas. We decided it would be better to go over Memorial Day, rather than in the summer so it wouldn't be so unbearably hot. Coleman had a high fever the day before we were supposed to fly out. He still had a low one and a really sore throat and head ache on Friday, when we were supposed to leave. After much deliberation, we decided it would be best if Coleman and I stayed behind. We were so sad to not go. But we didn't want him feeling miserable for the weekend or get anyone else sick. Doug did a great job taking pictures, so I still have lots to share! (I also took a few that some of the other family member shared.)
The airport was really crowded and they had to wait for about an hour to go through security. Kenzie sent me some pictures while they were waiting.
She thought this dog was cute:)
After they go to Vegas they picked up some breakfast food at Walmart and headed to the hotel. They hung out in Candis' room, eating pizza and talking.
Grayson was making everyone laugh. Doug sent us some videos of him so we could see how funny he was being. Brian's family had driven about 30 hours straight to get there so he was probably full of energy :)
They stayed at the Hilton Cancun Resort, which looked so nice.
Kenzie got this huge bed to herself the first night.
They brought Joan out to visit for the day while Jason went to Sandy Valley to stay with Blaine.
Saturday they spent most of the day at the hotel. There was some pools, waterslides, ping pong, and a pool table. They also played soccer.
They all said the slides were really fast.
Kicking a ball around.
Doug and the kids went McDonalds for lunch. The others stayed at the hotel and ate snacks they brought.
That evening they went on hike at Red Rock, which they thought was fun and pretty.
Jordan talked to Tony about books. He was happy to find some else who likes the Stormlight series from Brandon Sanderson. He came home with a few more books he wants to read.
This was the waterfall they hiked to... It was a small trickle.
Tyler, Deveny, Darrin, Brian, Doug
They went to McDonalds after the hike for ice cream.
On Sunday, some of the family went to church in Sandy Valley, and the others just met there for lunch. Doug brought Little Caesars and KFC chicken for lunch. Darrin and Shawnee were in charge of lunch with so they provided the other food.
They found junk from the junk piles and painted it. I thought it seemed like a fun idea :)
I don't know who made this, but it's cute:)
I assume Kassidee made this one since it says K Dance and she's a talented artist.
Another cute one!
They moved a fridge that Blaine wanted moved.
Darrin and Tyler had a race. Tyler easily one.
They ate at McDonalds for dinner. Brain, Carinn, and Ashton drove with them.
Some of the family met up again in our room for some video games and poker.
Everyone left early Monday morning except Doug and the kids. Their flight wasn't until around 7 that night. They went to the Atomic Museum, saw Doug's childhood homes and high school, and walked around the Las Vegas Strip.
When they tried to leave the strip, the car overheated and started leaking and smoking. Doug let the Turo guy he rented the car from know what happened and they took a Lyft to the airport. The Turn guys works right where it was parked, so it actually worked out pretty well.
Coleman and I sad we were left at home. Coleman did start feeling better, and his fever went down. But his throat still hurt and he was coughing a lot Saturday. His ear also was hurting Saturday night so I think we did make the right choice. While we were gone with watched all 8 Harry Potters, played video games, and played board games.
We brought all these games down on Sunday to play. We didn't have enough time to play them all, but we played a lot.
Kenzie let Coleman keep Benny for the weekend.
These are the games we played Sunday! We played a few more from the pile on Monday.
Although we would have preferred to be at the reunion, we still had a good time together. Coleman was happy I didn't make him go. During the weekend he told me: "thanks for caring for me" and "thanks for loving me" :) He's a sweet boy!
