Sledding at Hyak

On Tuesday the kids and I went sledding at Hyak. We hadn't been there since before covid so we were especially excited to go back. We had a great time!

Coleman

Jordan in the new blow up tube he got for Christmas. He really loves sledding and was the one who kept asking if we were going to go this year.

The kept going down in a pile. Once they tried to put Coleman on the bottom but he did not like that!

Kenzie made herself a snow bed.

Coleman on Jordan with Jackson in front.

It was a great day!

Jordan's Birthday!

Jordan turned 15 on Monday!
We had the Crabtree's over on Sunday for his family party.

He wanted ravioli for dinner and snickerdoodles for dessert.

Ready to open presents on his birthday!

He got lots of different kinds of Rubik's cubes. All but one present was had to do with cubes.

Trying  out his new cubes and cube mat.

Handsome kid!

He wanted to go to Deft in Tacoma for an hour.

It was lots of fun!

The obstacle courses were great!

We went to Cafe Rio for lunch.

After we went home and he played video games and with his cubes and went to soccer practice. He wanted to eat dinner at home and have Grandma Dance's enchiladas. I think this was the first non-Sunday birthday in which someone chose to eat a meal at home (other than breakfast:))

Then he had his last basketball game of the year.

He wanted peanut butter balls for dessert and then Doug let him stay up until midnight playing video games.

It was a great day celebrating a great kid!

Covington Soccer

Kenzie and Coleman are both playing spring soccer for Covington. It's fun to be back to Covington after so many years of other leagues :)
Kenzie's the middle girl in white.

Her team won 8-0. Her age group is 5th-8th graders. Her team is primarily 6th and 7th grade, and the other team seemed to be 5th and 6th, with some 3rd and 4th graders and maybe a couple 7th or 8th graders. Kenzie played forward and midfield in the first half and scored 2 goals, then played defense the entire second half, which wasn't as fun for her.

Coleman's team tied 3-3. His age group is the same as Kenzie's but luckily the team he played seemed to be mostly 5th and 6th graders, like his. They were pretty evenly matched, which made for a good game. Coleman played goalie the second half and did really well. Only one goal was scored and it was too high for him to reach. He also had some really great drop kicks. I was impressed! The first half he played defense and offense and did great at both!

Ben came over to play after the game. Coleman's friends Blake and Graham are also on the team as well as several boys he's known from past seasons. It should be a fun season!

Food Lifeline

We volunteered at Food Lifeline last Monday. The Jack and Jordan's friend Isaac and his mom Heather joined us this time.
Jordan and Isaac (and some other people)

Usually we just put two pounds of rice into bags. but this time we put about 40lbs of pears in boxes. As a group we boxed up 8-9 of those big boxes of pears. It was almost 10,000 lbs of pears! The next day my back and legs were sore from all the bending and lifting. I didn't realize I was getting such a good workout :)

Coleman, with Jackson and Jordan in the background.
We were happy to only have to wear gloves this time Usually we wear hairnets, aprons, and arm covers.

Violin Recital

Jackson had a violin recital today at Daystar retirement center. He did fantastic! We love watching him play!

He played Gavotte.

The End of Basketball

Coleman had his last basketball game today. His team lost, but they played really well against the best team in the league. Coleman made 2 baskets! He's excited to start soccer now!

Young Women Olympia Trip

Kenzie and I went on a young women overnighter to a house in Olympia. The girls played in the game room most of the time. There were arcade games, pool, basketball, skeeball, video games, darts, and foosball. Kenzie and Delaynie especially loved playing Fi-it Felix. Kenzie said she got the new high score. Paisley and Lorelei loved a hamburger arcade game. They girls also went in the hot tub, watched a movie, did face masks and nail polish, and made cookies. Lynnea, Heather, and I spent lots of time talking and relaxing while the young women played:)
Lorelei, Jenna, and Kenzie checking out the lake from the dock. The four of us got there a couple hours before the rest of the group.
