Hawaii Day 12

This morning we got up and went Sunset Beach. We've driven by it many times and it usually looks so calm, but today the waves were pretty big. My kids were more nervous to go in it. And I was more nervous for them to go in :) Kenzie and Colie didn't ever swim.
Jordan, Grandpa, Jackson, Coleman, Kenzie checking out the waves.

Colie: "This is how I smile now."

He thinks he's pretty funny. I think so too :)

Jackson with Grandpa in the background.

Doug taught the kids to surf when the waves came around them on the sand so they wouldn't get pulled into the ocean.

 Jumping waves.

 Colie "surfing"

Jackson didn't want to go in. He was scared of the waves. Grandpa convinced him to try it and after a few times riding on Grandpa's back he loved it.

Jackson wanted lunch and I told him we would eat at noon. He didn't have his watch on and I didn't have my phone to see what time it was so I suggested he should put a stick in the ground to make his own sun dial. So he did. He said it was almost noon (which it really was.)

Kenzie got my camera and took many pictures.
 Richard reading.

The sun was in Colie's eyes!

Grandma had the perfect spot. Reading in her chair where the waves would get her feet occasionally to cool her off.

Doug built a castle with Cam, Colie, and Kenzie

Cam added the stick and said "A castle!"

Doug ready to ride the boogie board into the waves. He called it skim boarding.

We went to Matsumoto's again in the afternoon. It had been a week since we last went! I usually just get watermelon, but decided to try lemonade and watermelon this time. I wish I would have stuck with just watermelon. The lemonades was too sour for me too enjoy. The watermelon was so good.
 Nati and Kenzie

Kenzie loves making that face when she's being shave ice.

 Silly Kenzie

 Cute Colieman

 Cute Jackson

Jackson, Alli, Grandpa. Today they gave us waffle dishes for our shave ice. Grandpa tried it and said it was really gross. Doug tried it and said it was the worst thing he's ever eaten. The rest of us didn't want to try it after that :)

Then we went to see the sea turtles. We were excited to find one on the beach.
The turtle is behind them. And so is Coleman who refused to be in the picture.

 The turtle.

He actually moved! First he threw some sand on himself. Then he actually went back to the water. It was really fun to see and perfect timing for us to be there for it. He had been on the beach since 11:30 that morning, so for about 4 hours.

He made it to the water!

 Swimming away.

Jackson started reading Harry Potter right before we came to Hawaii. He reads it in the car whenever we drive around. He says it's not his favorite book yet. Percy Jackson is his favorite. For now :)

Jordan reads too. He's reading Peter and the Star Catchers. Kenzie either plays with Jordan (when he's not reading) or just sits there. I should bring her books in the car too...

Coleman usually just sits there or falls asleep.

Such a fun day!

Hawaii Day 11

Cute boys sleeping together last night.

Today everyone but Doug, my kids, Camryn, and Konrad went to the swap meet. It was a lot of fun! Right when we got there it was pouring down rain, but stopped after about 10 minutes. Then it got hot and we were wishing for rain.

Doug and the kids stayed home and played Monopoly, watched TV, and played the Kindle. Doug also did laundry.

Jack and Colie in their new outfits.

I bought Jack some cards and he was excited to learn how to play solitaire. He then spent the next couple hours playing Solitaire by himself and War, Speed, and Super Speed with me.

 Cam in her new dress.

Kenzie and Nati got matching dresses and necklaces.

In the afternoon, the kids and I stayed at the house with my mom, Kimber, and Cam, Ashlee, Michelle, Kenna, Sam, and Alli went to Temple Beach. The men golfed again. And Michelle is making some yummy S'more bites because she's awesome! :)

Hawaii Day 10

Cam got my camera this morning and snapped a couple pictures:

We went to Kailua all day. It's such a beautiful, clear beach. We had such a fun day!

The Kenyons rented a paddle board. This is Richard.

Kenzie was sad Colie was following Jordan instead of her.

Sam, Jack, and Kenna found a shady spot.

Doug took Kenzie and Colie out on the paddle board.

Grandpa and Nati having a conversation.

Jackson played with Grandpa a ton. He loved jumping off his shoulders.

The kids swam so much today. They barely played in the sand at all and didn't make any sand castles.
