Doug's Birthday

Doug turned 31 this year.
Jordan was super excited to give daddy his present!

Doug took the day off of work so we could play all day!

First thing he did was open his presents.

Coleman takes forever to start eating his oatmeal. He sits there for a long time saying it's too hot or he doesn't like oatmeal. Then he eventually eats it when it's "not hot" and tells me "I like oatmeal!"

Kenzie was also excited to give Doug her present to him.

It was a glow in the dark basketball.

Before Jordan's birthday he came up with a plan "You (daddy) will get me magformers for my birthday, and I will get them for you on your birthday!" And he did. Jordan has loved playing with them...

Jackson made a Doug a card.

Jackson loves his blue blankie.

Astronomy Today textbook! So exciting!

Happy boy!

After opening presents we went to the Science Center. Doug had wanted to see the Imax movie "A Hidden Universe" but it had stopped playing there a month before. We went anyway and saw a Beavers movie and a new Live Science show that we hadn't seen before. Doug and the boys also saw a Humans in Space planetarium show. We also looked at all the exhibits.

We went to the mall to eat and on our back the kids danced for us on stage.

Jackson's moves were making us laugh :)

Old man.

Coleman was wearing Jordan's sweatshirt (that is actually Kenzie's size...) and looked so cute in it all day :)

Kenzie and Colie played in the play area while the big boys and Doug saw the planetarium show.

On our way to dinner we were stuck in some pretty bad traffic. Getting to the freeway was especially bad. But eventually we did get to The Rock and at some yummy pizza and desserts.

I made Doug Baby Ruth Bars for his birthday treat instead of cake. The candles were really hard to put in so he just had one candle.

He said he didn't mind.

Then he started to chow down.

The kids thought he was hilarious.

LeMay Car Museum

The kids (including Camryn who we were watching while Ash and Kimber were at Disneyland. But she's not pictured because she was strapped to me:))  and I went on a homeschool fieldtrip to the LeMay Car Museum. It was pretty fun. The kids loved it for the most part. Jackson loved it all.

The first thing we did was build cars out of recycled materials. It was kind of frustrating at first because we had to tape a tube that had the axle for the wheels onto the bottom of the car. But they kept falling off. And we had to make sure they were straight so the car could actually roll straight. The kids had a hard time doing it themselves and so I was trying to help all four of them, plus Camryn was not at all happy while I was doing it. It was a long 10 or minutes. Then I turned Camryn around so she was facing out of the carrier and she stopped crying. Then I helped the other build their cars. Most of the people there I hadn't meant before and they probably thought I was even more crazy than people normally think I am bringing 5 little kids to a car museum :)
Other than the wheels, Jackson made his himself. Jordan needed a little help with the taping. Coleman colored his and I did the rest.

Kenzie and I worked together on hers. I did the cutting. She did the designing. We taped it together. She decorated it. She loved decorating it. Even as we were cleaning up she was looking for more stickers to add.

Jackson wants to start collecting recycled materials to make cars out of. He currently has a huge stash of boxes in his room and we have several milk carton lids for him.

Then we went on a tour of the cars.
This is the only car they could climb in.

Half of our group did the tour first and half did it second. Each of those groups were slip into 4 groups for the tour. We were lucky to be with our friends for it. I think the lady who organized it all put us all together because we all have kids younger than 5, whereas most people had only school aged kids. Our tour guide was great and very patient with all the little kids.

This is the picture the museum created by photo shopping the front of the museum into the green background from the previous picture.

Kenzie liked this car. She got pretty grouchy halfway though the tour. She wanted lunch :)

He was also grouchy and maybe feeling sad he wasn't the baby that day. Usually I can carry him when he wants, but since I was carrying Cam it wasn't as easy. He started crawling for awhile and was going really slow. He would cry when I kept walking and was probably saying "wait for me," which is something he often says. Luckily I convinced him to walk after a little bit.

Jackson wanted a lot of pictures with the cars he liked. I put most of them on here. I thought he'd like to see all the ones he liked someday :)

Jordan would jump in the picture sometimes too and do some crazy pose.

This car is a Tucker and it's one of about 50 models ever made.

Jack wanted his picture with this car to show how big the wheels are.

Jack really loved the race cars.

After the tour we ate lunch, and went down to the family zone.
There was a car the kids could play in.

And a pinewood derby track to race cars down.

And a big train track.

Kenzie's Pictures

Kenzie took these pictures.
Haha not sure why he's showing his belly.

I've been sewing more lately. I made Kenzie some sleeping bags for her animals. She doesn't like them though. She did for a night or two :) I've also made a carseat cover thing, bibs, bean bag type chairs that we store my kids stuffed animals and also our extra blankets that we keep in the basement in. And I have lots more projects to do. Maybe since it's supposed to be rainy this week, we'll be home more, and I'll have more time to sew.

I especially like this picture because Coleman is playing with Tico, and he calls himself Tico :)

Pinewood Derby

Jackson was invited to do the pinewood derby this year since he'll be 8 soon and there aren't a lot of scouts in his troop. He was super excited to build a car and race it. Many people commented to me how he seemed so excited that night. Only Doug and Jackson went to it. We weren't sure if it was a family event and it went past my kids' bedtime. Doug took lots of pictures though.

He was so excited when he got home and told me all about it. Now he's really excited to go to scouts after he turns 8 :)

Bike Basket

One day, when riding her bike, Kenzie said she wishes that her bike had a bag or something so she could put her animals in it. Since her birthday and Christmas are so far away, I ordered her a bike basket from Amazon. She was so excited when she realized what it was. I don't have a picture of it on her bike yet though.
