Easter

We colored eggs last Saturday. I made the Easter dye from normal food coloring for the first time. It turned out pretty well, but seemed a little harder to get off their hands than normal. But maybe they just just got messier this year.
Jackson excited to color eggs.

Kenzie and Doug

Kenzie drawing on an egg. She didn't color too much on it. She just kept trying to eat the crayons.

Jackson, Jordan, and Doug with the eggs they wrote their names on.

Jordan coloring an egg. He loved doing it. And didn't get as messy as I expected him to. He had the cleanest hands of the 3. He liked using the spoon instead of his hands.

Kenzie coloring an egg. She loved doing it. I thought she would make a bigger mess, but other than her hands, she didn't make much of a mess. She put the eggs in carefully and didn't splash at all.

More Kenzie

Isn't she cute?

Finally looking at the camera.

Cute Jordan.

Jack showing off an egg.

More of Mackenzie.

Kenzie's dirty hands.

Doug with his Mexico egg.

Jack's dirty hands. I was worried they would be stained for a couple days, but after soaking them in the bath for awhile they came pretty clean.

The finished eggs. They turned out to have too soft of shells and cracked pretty easily.

Every time I sit on one a stool I have at least one kid that wants to sit on my lap. I decided to be nice Saturday and let 2 sit on my lap. Aren't they cute? I love how Kenzie is hugging Jordan.

Cute kids again.

That evening we met up with my sisters at Ashlee's house and cooked desserts for Sunday's Easter dinner. Since it was the first good weather day we've had this spring the kids played at the park and in the backyard most of the time. My boys were so excited to finally be able to wear shorts. They've been disappointed that they can't continue to wear them outside of the house because it's been cold since that one day of warmth. We can't wait for spring to really come, if it ever does...

On Sunday morning the kids looked for eggs and their Easter baskets. Since we have 9:00 church we made them get dressed before the hunt so that we wouldn't be late for church.

Jack

Kenzie loved finding the eggs.

Jordan with his basket.

Kenzie with some of her candy. She didn't care too much about her basket. At first she kept pulling out the egg candy and saying "egg" since she knew that's what they were looking for. Then she found the other candy and kept pulling it out saying "candy." She loves candy.

That afternoon we went to my parents' house for dinner and a big egg hunt outside. Besides us, there were my parents, both sisters and their families, and 4 families from my parents' ward there. My dad hid a little less than 300 eggs filled with money for the kids to find. And for the first time we found them all pretty quickly. The kids had a blast finding them.

She found one!

Jack

Kenzie loved carrying around her bag and walking around looking for eggs. She didn't really care that she didn't find too many. She was mostly happy to be outside I think.

We really had a great Easter. We are so grateful for the reason we celebrate Easter. This year I was feeling even more grateful for the resurrection of Christ. My sister's baby passed away when she was 35 weeks pregnant, back in March, and all throughout the day I kept thinking of him and how grateful I am that Christ died and was resurrected for all of us, including my nephew. I am so thankful we can all be resurrected and be together again with our families forever.

Quest Children's Museum

Last week Jackson had spring break so we spent the week enjoying life without a schedule, other than Kenzie's nap. I really like not having a schedule. On Tuesday we went to a children's museum we haven't been to. The kids had a lot of fun and both Kenzie and Jordan cried when we had to leave, which wasn't so fun for me. But other than that they were happy and had a great time.
Kenzie playing.

This is Jackson in the place that's for kids 3 and under (I figure he's small and looks like he's 3...) He loved it in there though. There was a leaf slide, which is what he's on, that he called an alligator slide and he loved it. He also loved a cool train track in there too.

Jordan on a leaf under the leaf slide. He wanted to lay down for the picture for some reason.

When wer were in the little kids section Kenzie just wanted to go up and down the stairs since she could go up without holding onto anything. She could make it down the stairs by herself, but wanted to hold my hand. (You can see my finger in the picture. She kept whining until I put it out for her to grab.)

Jordan playing with some magnet gear toys.

Mackenzie getting down after playing with the wooden stick toy. She was very cute sitting up there but by the time I got my camera out she started getting down.

I just think this picture is funny. I wanted them to both look at me so they turned their heads to look at me, but didn't look with their eyes.

Now they're both looking.

There was a big section of water stuff. Kenzie loved the water and ended up with wet pants after falling a few times on the ground.

Kenzie going down the leaf slide. She loved it. She was very sad when we had to leave the it.

Doug's getting old...

Doug turned 28 yesterday.

After I took a picture of Doug and Jackson, Jordan wanted me to take a picture of him. But he wouldn't even smile for it.

The boys.

Doug with his first presents.

Jack and Kenzie watching Doug.

I love Jackson's expression. I love how excited he gets for everyone's birthday.

We made Doug a treasure map in order to find the rest of his presents.

Looking for the treasure. Neither of the boys told Doug where it was. I was proud of them for keeping the secret. Jordan almost gave some of the secrets away a few times though.

Finding the treasure.

Doug's excited about his presents.

All the kids ready to open the presents.

Jordan gave this present to Doug. As soon as he saw it at the store it was all he wanted to get Doug. The funny thing is, I almost got it for Jordan for his birthday. I guess I should have. But I thought it was a good gift for Doug since they can play it together :) . Jackson gave Doug a new Wii game that Jackson thought looked fun...

Opening the present from Jackson. Both boys made a card for Doug and put a bow on the present. They like bows.

Doug was very happy and surprised that he got a 3DS. Although he played it later that day and got a headache so I'm not sure it was a great investment.

Doug let the boys open the last 2 presents. Isn't he nice?

Kenzie and daddy. I told Kenzie to make a happy face and this is what she did.

We went to my parents' house around lunch time and watched conference, ate dinner, and had cake and ice cream. Doug wanted carrot cake this year so I made him one. It turned out pretty good I thought. Doug said he liked it and even went back for seconds which most likely means he wasn't just being polite. It was my mom's birthday the day before and she didn't have any cake fore her birthday (I told her I'd make her one, but she said she didn't need one...) And she wouldn't let me put 80 candles on the cake for her and Doug so I made the candles write 52 inthe cake for her. She said she didn't need to blow out the candles to celebrate her birthday so only Doug did...

Kenzie waiting for the singing and cake.

My dad lighting the candles.

My mom.

Doug enjoying everyone singing to him.

Doug blew out all the candles in one breath.

My parents.

Doug having cake and Jordan eating ice cream. (The boy really doesn't like cake.)

Kenzie loved the cake though. Jackson didn't like the cake but he loved the frosting. So he just all the frosting off the cake then asked if he could have another piece and just eat the frosting off of it...
